Counter-Strike: Map X-Ray: de_nuke

  • Plans of Attack: Nuke is so complicated that it is basically impossible to create a limited number of set attacks. Ts (much more than CTs) really have to get a feel for the map. The first kill is extremely important, and the T strategy will change dramatically if one or more CTs are eliminated before the real attack starts. That said, here are some basic sketches of how to approach the bombsites. Note that all of these can be either a rush or a delayed attack, possibly preceded by a bit of spamming and/or distracting. Also note that the team should never, ever, be split into three. Nuke is simply too large and dangerous to try three-pronged attacks, or attacks with more than one distraction.
    • Attack A, Front: The Ts attack A through the hallways. This attack is pretty suicidal, and shouldn't be used if the only two points of entry into the site are going to be the shed and the squeeky door - unless, of course, the Ts have a numerical advantage at the site because they have killed more CTs or somehow made the CT team abandon the defense of A. One or more Ts should almost always be attacking outside and going through outside into upper bombsite. This allows for a much better position to kill the CTs in the rafters, while the hallway attackers will clear the CTs on the ground. As usual, be sure to coordinate grenades between the two groups.
    • Attack B, Front: The Ts attack the ramp room through the hallways. This attack is also usually pretty suicidal, and should never be used as a rush once the CTs have Colts. Make sure to throw all of your grenades; you won't need them to defend the bomb at B (which is of course where this attack is going). If the team makes it into the ramp room with few casualties, it is a good idea to leave behind one or two Ts inside the room to guard the flank, while the rest of the squad goes down to B and plants. Be sure to break the vents on the wall across from you so you can see CTs coming down through the ventilation shafts from A. This attack can work well with fake attacks to the upper bombsite through the hallways and/or outside.
    • Attack A, Rear: The Ts attack upper from behind. This can involve going inside or outside. If an inside call is made, the T with the bomb spams the upper site from the hallways while the other four Ts go ramp room. These Terrorists attack the ramp room as usual - that is, very fast and very hard, with full grenade use. Three Ts then go to the ladder room, while one T drops back into the hallways to join up with the T with the bomb. As quickly as possible, one or more flashbangs are thrown up the ladder; ideally two are thrown, with the second being thrown about two seconds after the first. Then, two Ts ascend to the rafters overlooking upper, while one T stays in the ladder room guarding the flank. As soon as the Ts on the rafters start attacking the CTs in upper, the two Ts in the hallway rush in and plant. If an outside call is made, two Ts, including whoever has the bomb, stay in the hallways, while three go outside. An important note: this is incredibly dangerous after the fourth round or so. Any decent AWPer firing from the garage or a good position near CT spawn will kill at least two Ts who go outside, especially if smoke is not used. This attack can be used to good effect in the early rounds, though. The outside team will either attack through outside to upper (making this an outside-oriented version of a frontal assault on upper) or go all the way around to the ladder room and attack from the rafters.
    • Attack B, Rear: A very rare strategy. The Ts all go outside and use the garage entrance to enter the lower bombsite; they then advance through the tunnels to B. One or more Ts should enter the ventilation shafts on the way. This attack is probably best used as a rush. One option is to get underground without much, if any, fighting and then just sit there quietly; after the CTs (assuming they saw the Ts going underground) have fallen back to defend the lower bombsite, the team goes back up and switches to a rear upper attack.
  • A note on planting at upper: the bomb should always be planted here; this allows the Ts to defend the bomb from every possible entrance to upper, including from inside the shed by firing like this (1, 2).
