In conclusion, many would assume that players would perform better in
online play simply because of the comfort of using a setting that they
are familiar with. It is important to note that there is no suggestion
of cheating involved or any illegal advantage used by any of these players,
but just simply going from an environment that they are familiar with
to a more foreign one with many public distractions. By comparison of
the statistics, it appears that this is true in most cases. Overall,
the selected players performed better in CAL than at the CPL. Unfortunately,
as previously stated, it was hard to find a constant with which to compare
these results completely accurately. Thus, many assumptions had to be
made to compare the skill of opponents and to try and match them up as
evenly possible. There was only one good match that could really be looked
at in-depth. Although there are many “what-ifs,” the statistics do seem to be reliable as they have a common trend with similar numbers from online to offline, just a bit more impressive in online play.
