Counter-Strike: Joeker's Guide to Bombsite B - Dust2

Retaking Bombsite B as CT:

Retaking bombsite B is all a matter of coordination and improvisation, based on the number of players remaining on both teams. In certain situations where there are a small number of players left, for example one versus one, one versus two, or two versus two, it is in your best interest as a CT to keep your eyes on the doors. This will help you tell when terrorists cross over, before and after the bomb is planted. If there is one terrorist left and he plants the bomb, as long as you have got your eyes on the opening of the doors, you know that he has to be in the back of the site somewhere and you do not have to worry about the halls or car area. However, if he does run across to the left side of the map, you have to worry about whether he is in the halls or behind the box by the car. There is a great way to handle this situation. Hop up on the rock into window, and strafe in and out of the window for a split second so you can grab a peek to see if he is in halls or by the box. Then go back to the doors, and throw a flash inside so it lands past the platform box so it will blind anyone behind the box or in the hallway.

When there are a large number of players remaining, it is all about coordination and communication. I recommend always sending one person through the halls when trying to retake bombsite B. He can take advantage of throwing a flashbang at the angle shown below to blind anyone watching the stairs from the hallway area.

He must move quickly and be sure to check the hall coming from spawn for a Terrorist waiting to catch him. Keep in mind it is to your advantage to make a lot of noise in this hall. This is because anyone hiding in the area by the car will hear your footsteps and alert his teammates. This could cause his teammates and himself to be distracted, knowing you are coming. The other Counter-Terrorists waiting outside the doors should throw their flashbangs over the wall to hit anyone in the back of the site. Make sure you do this in a coordinated fashion and give each other the “go” as to when to enter the site.

Attacking B as Terrorist

General Knowledge:

When hard rushing B , you have to accept the fact that you may lose one or two people. This is perfectly fine, as long as you trade kills with the Counter-Terrorists equally or better. It should always be easier to defend than to retake.

Rushing Hard:

When executing a hard rush to bombsite B, the lead rusher should always have a flashbang. It is his responsibility to throw the flashbang into the bombsite. Being the lead rusher makes you the most important player on the team, at that moment. It is your job to get the flashbang into the site properly, and to never stop moving forward. If you stop for even a second, or stop and sidestep, your entire team’s rush will be compromised. Something you may want to do as lead rusher is to jump out and draw fire from wherever a CT may be. This allows your teammates to attack him, while he focuses on you. You have to be prepared to go down, “taking one for the team,” in a sense. It is a good procedure at the start of the round to make a couple of decisions based on your spawns. First, will you leave one man at the spawn to watch the double doors? Spotting the double doors from spawn will give you a good estimate of how many Counter-Terrorists you can expect to encounter when entering the site. Spotting the middle can also be used to reveal any Counter-Terrorists trying to sneak into lower B halls, in which case your team can check the stairs when rushing, and not get shot in the side. The downside, obviously, is that you are one man down, on the rush. The best way to handle this, if you are the one spotting middle is to spot how many Counter-Terrorists have crossed and then catch up to your team as soon as possible. Do not worry about getting any kills. You are simply scouting out the defense. The middle spotter should then pick up the flank from outside the hall from spawn, or from some other position within B halls, depending on the situation. If you decide not to spot the middle, then the next decision should be up to your in-game leader or whoever is in charge.

You will always want someone dedicated to watching the B halls for a flank. Based on analyzing the Counter-Terrorist’s defense, you either want to have all five terrorists rush into the site and clear it, and then have someone fall back into the hall quick, or do a four man rush and leave one in the hallway. I recommend leaving one in the hallway if you have any doubts about a Counter-Terrorist possibly being in lower B halls, or if the opposing team has a tendency to push and rotate fast.

Stopping an AWP

I will not go over a split rush into B from B halls and the middle, but I will suggest how to stop an AWP who is guarding the site. Most Counter-Terrorists using an AWP will utilize the fact that you can barely see them behind the rock, at the back of the platform. I will suggest two ways to take care of him. The first way takes only two people and involves no grenades, simply a good shot. If anyone on your team has an AWP, get them involved. This is basically a “pick-off” strategy. Whoever will be taking the shot at the AWP needs to be lined up at the edge of the hallway, so they can pop out and take a shot, but not be visible until doing so. The second person involved will be jumping across the hallway, drawing a shot from the AWP in the back. A split second after the person jumps across, the player taking the shot needs to pop out and headshot the Counter-Terrorist with the AWP. This can be a tough shot at first, but it is something you can practice.

Second, you can use solely grenades to take out this sniper. This requires at least two smoke grenades to fully blind the entire view of the hallway. As seen below, you want to place your smoke grenades at the end of the hallway entrance into the site. This will allow you to run and gain momentum, and simultaneously HE grenade the back of the platform, taking out the sniper. I suggest only doing this with two people, so that they can run side by side and time the throwing of the HE grenades.

Holding bombsite B:

If your team has successfully taken site B and has equal or more players left than the other team, there is absolutely no reason you should ever lose a round, when the bomb has been planted. The only reasons you will ever lose are X-factors such as poor communication or missing your shots, but these types of excuses can be used in any spectrum of the game, so let us assume those are not a problem.

Utilizing Grenades:

As soon as your team has entered the site and killed any Counter-Terrorists, you will want to throw smokes in the doorway, and start throwing flashes over the wall. Try not to all throw all your flashes at once, but space them out every few seconds. It never hurts to save a few, in case you need them, but throwing them over the wall is crucial. This keeps the Counter-Terrorists blind, and wastes time while the bomb gets planted and then ticks down.

Planting the Bomb:

There are only two spots in which you should be planting the bomb. These are on either side of the boxes, by the window. Each has their advantages and disadvantages. Planting on the door side allows you to keep an eye on the bomb from the hallway, once it has been planted, but leaves you open to getting shot in the side by a quick entering Counter-Terrorist. While this Counter-Terrorist may be killed by one of your teammates, it is not a one-hundred percent safe spot. You may become an easy, quick kill before their own death. Planting on the left side of the boxes under the window is much safer; however you cannot see one defusing the bomb from certain areas, such as the hallway. Before we worry about killing someone who is defusing, let us elaborate on how your team should get positioned before there is even a chance of that happening.

Note:
If you want to be a little different, you can also shoot the barrels near the door into the opening.

This forces the Counter-Terrorists trying to enter through the door to run and jump over them, giving the Terrorists an advantage, as they will get the first shot off easily. Furthermore, the Counter-Terrorist will have to wait until he lands to be able to shoot at anyone effectively.
