With WEG2005 Season 2 moving onto the next stage of matches I thought it would be nice to give a breakdown of what chances each team has to move on onto the Semi-Finals for WEG2005 Season 2.

With WEG2005 Season 2 moving onto the next stage of matches I thought it would be nice to give a breakdown of what chances each team has to move on onto the Semi-Finals for WEG2005 Season 2.

Group A

GamerCo
AbitStrike
4Kings
wNv

Group B

Catch-Gamer
Astralis
Pentagram
Begrip

Those are the groups for the next stage. Both groups are pretty balanced, but as in any sport there are favorites and underdogs. If I was a betting man, these would be my predictions on who will be in the Semi-Finals.

Group A
GamerCo
4Kings

There are four very good teams in Group A. Any one of these teams has a shot at moving on to the next round and with a week to prepare for the first match of this group stage, it really could be anyone's match. From what I have seen from both of GamerCo and 4Kings, I am very impressed. GamerCo is a team that is transformed from last season. No more of the balls-out, go for everything mentality. They are still the same GamerCo we know and love, but they have a patience I haven't seen from them ever. We might be able to give credit to DarK for that. 4Kings (besides an all-night booze binge) has looked very strong. They have 5 very capable players, when under the right situation, will all come up big in the clutch. Abit and wNv are both very skilled teams, but I'm not sure how they will match up against GamerCo and 4K. Abit showed they couldn't close the match against Astralis who won 7 straight rounds on T side to win. wNv didn't play as close to Begrip as many would have expected after taking NoA out of WEG2005 Season 2. Both Chinese teams got a tough draw and don't have as much experience on the international platform as GamerCo or 4K. If either team beats 4K or GamerCo, expect them to move on.

Match Predictions

June 18th :

GamerCo > AbitStrike on de_inferno
4Kings > wNv on de_inferno

June 19th :

GamerCo > 4Kings on de_train
AbitStrike > wNv on de_train

June 25th :

GamerCo > wNv on de_dust2
4Kings > AbitStrike on de_dust2

Final Standings

GamerCo (3-0)
4Kings (2-1)
AbitStrike (1-2)
wNv (0-3)

Group B
Begrip
Astralis

At first glance, Group B looks balanced enough, but if you delve deeper into the matches that each team played and the scores from each of those matches, you might not think it is so balanced after all. Pentagram didn't really get a shot to show how good they might be after the flashbang incident against Team EG and Catch-Gamer didn't really impress much, losing 13-4 to GamerCo on nuke. That is Catch's first official loss on nuke. Both of those teams will have its work cut out for them during the first two matches, as they play Astralis and Begrip respectively. Sunday the 19th will be the deciding factor in the group as Catch and Pentagram play each other, while Astralis and Begrip decide who is going to win the group. Whoever wins in the CG/Pentagram match will have the chance to upset either Astralis or Begrip for the chance to move on to the semi-finals

Match Predictions

June 26th :

Final Standings

Begrip (3-0)
