Team Info

Complexity is an all-star team put together, and funded by Jason Lake. Their team is spread out across the country, but due to excellent funding this does not prevent them from attending any of the major LANs.

Recent Changes

Exodus joined the team to take Sunmans spot.

IceCream's Analysis

It’s not common for a team to make a roster change while winning almost every tournament they attend, but Complexity did just that. Sunman is out and in comes Exodus. Personally, I'm only surprised that they chose to make a change, but I'm not surprised by their choice to replace Sunman. Sunman is definitely an amazing player, but I think he was the weak link for coL, much more often than any other player on the team. For most teams, Sunmans occasional bad match or play wouldn't be a problem, but that doesn't work in Complexity. They're striving to be the number one team in the world so nothing short of greatness will do. Exodus has the ability to provide the talent they need to replace someone of Sunmans caliber, and hopefully he will have the consistency and activity levels that Complexity requires.

Complexity's play style is amazingly clean. They've worked out strategy to a level we've only seen from the very best of European teams. To explain this, you have to understand how detailed the top teams strats are. An upcoming team may watch Complexity and see them running a 2-3 split so they will try to copy that and call a 2-3 split. This new team doesn't have any more understanding of the strat than just player positions, so it probably won't work. Teams playing at a higher level, from CAL-m to CAL-i, learn an improved level of strategy. They learn improved flash and grenade techniques to take over sites as well as working chokepoints. Map movement, as a full team of five, is the last step to perfect. Its not too hard to work an area with just one teammate next to you, but can you organize all the grenades, timing, rotations, rushes, and bombsite coverage with the rest of your team in a matter of 15 seconds of live play? Complexity can, and they have it down to almost perfection. Mix that in with some of the most skilled players in the world, and you have a team approaching the level of the old SK Sweden.

Jax Money Crew

Starting lineup

Jimmy Lin
Evan Ahlberg
Ian Royle
Erik "da_bears" Stromberg
Chad "daffsta" White

Recent Accomplishments

4th Summer CPL 2005

Team Info

Jax Money Crew is another all-star team supported by Alex "Jax" Conroy. They've gone through a large amount of changes, but at this point they have 3 active members who all live in western Canada.

Recent Changes

After a great showing at the last CPL, JMC and Smoogler parted ways. For this upcoming season Gosu has not yet decided if he will return as an active player. Replacements for these two players are Chad "daffsta" White from Forsaken and Erik "da_bears" Stromberg from most recently, united5 and Mug-N-Mouse.

IceCream's Analysis

It looks like JMC is in the middle of yet another change in their lineup. JMC and Smoogler parted ways after a 4th place finish at the last CPL. Usually a change like that happens after a poor showing, not a good one. I'm sure JMC has its reasons for it, but they also have Gosu in limbo. He's still undecided as to whether or not he will be active. The interesting dynamic to this is that the 3 players still active are all from the same city in Canada. There is the potential to go local or to an all-Canadian team like the former Check 6 setup, or will they continue to be a team of the best members they can find. Either choice should be fine for them considering all the players available and changes going on like usual after a CPL.

I know a little less about JMC's playing style than I'd like, because I was not able to compete against them last season due to being in different leagues. I do know that they have some very skilled and clutch players on their team. CPL showed this, as the adversity they faced on their road to a 4th place finish rattled JMC. The mental factor that these players have is impossible to measure or explain. On paper JMC would not be the 4th place finisher from CPL. The skill is good, the team play is fine, but its 6th sense or "clutchness" that does it. If I have to make up a word like "clutchness" to try to explain JMC, then you know they have a skill that just can't be explained. As a total package JMC has proven they are winners and hopefully they will have a stable enough roster to show us that this season.
