Green Berets and Exigent

Green Berets

Starting lineup

James "Jame^s" O'Conner
Ted "LuckyTed" Weinrich
Josh "PineKone" Springer
Dan "mehLer" Mehler
Anthony "KryminaL" Grassi
Aran "i0nZ" Curbelo

Recent Accomplishments

9-12th Summer CPL 2005
ESWC US finalist
3rd ACON5 Finals

Team Info

GB is a LAN team from the Northeast US that was recreated under the leadership of Jame^s. They are regulars at Web2zone for tournaments, where they've shown great success.

Recent Changes

PineKone was added to the roster after Bigwie announced he would no longer be playing in the competitive scene. m4gic parted ways with GB and i0nZ was added to the lineup.

IceCream's Analysis

Pinkone is the new addition for GB this season. For those of you that don't know him, he played for Confederacy in CAL-p central. PineKone will be replacing m4gic and should help the team. Word has it that m4gic hadn't been active recently so a good active player should make GB better this season. Activity is going to be a big factor in how well Green Berets will do. James admitted that the team wasn't as active as he wanted. This can either be considered room to grow or a weakness. Hopefully for the GB fans, it will be room to grow.

The in game play should improve with PineKone because he brings in a solid AWP, which I haven't really seen in GB. For a team that seems to prefer rifles, this addition should help. Maps like train and cbble will be easier to defend with PineKone AWPing. One of GB's strengths is their ability to adapt T strats mid-round. Only one roster change shouldn't hurt their ability to do this, but it does require a bit of practice. If Green Berets can stay active, then they should be hard to beat. It was very rare that anyone put up more than 20 rounds against them last season. With that in mind, a little practice and a few more rounds against each team this season and GB has a high playoff seed. Easier said than done, but they have the pieces to do it.

Exigent

Starting lineup

Jayson "Zeus" Frandsen
Nick "odt" Frank
Sonny "s0nNy" Hoang
Jonathan "Elude" Gilbert
Andy "icy" Keefe
Trevor "pOs" Randolph
Jim "toneHirl" Nguyen

Recent Accomplishments

1st CAL-P Central season 14
4th seed in CEVO-P playoffs

Team Info

The majority of this lineup has been together as Reign Over ALL (RoA) since CAL-im. They have players spread out all over the Midwest and central US, from Utah to Indiana to Louisiana. This gives them few chances to LAN together as a team although many of their players do play at local LANs with teams in their area.

Recent Changes

p0s has rejoined the team leaving CPL source champions PowersGaming. Elude has also returned to active status in the 1.6 community which should make many of the 1.6 TEC fans happy. Also, s0nNy was on the previous Exigent team and is now playing for this one.

IceCream's Analysis

Exigent has to be hungry for this opportunity to play in CAL-I again. Last season they were moved up, but only for a short stay. They got in a match versus Complexity losing 14-16 and then later got moved down. This match showed they have the ability to play at this level. A few additions have been made, which should only make the team more stable. Unfortunately Exigent hasn't done much outside of CAL-p which I did not follow closely. I do support this choice as the final move up though, and I think exigent will do just fine in there first season of CAL. Be sure to watch and see how p0s and Elude do in their return to 1.6.
