About me:
I have been playing cs since cs1.0. I started off in my favorite pub server of all time DarkKnights Wasteland. It was a local server where i would get 20 ping. Of course i was a stat whore... always checking stats and playing nonstop (felt like it). I was the biggest camper of all time. Hahaha... (That is why i play like a noob in clan matches... i never took the chance to challenge someones shot... bad strategy for beginners). Then i was looking for a clan to fit in with the pub whores. i needed a tag! My first clan was MAXIM. They were the junior clan of PLAYBOY. I played for them for awhile and then took leadership... (how could i lead a team when im a noob myself with no experience). Then i got a little better... just a little and I was asked to join PLAYBOY. From there it was practice and practice and more practice. We even had our own PLAYBOY lan center at a friend of ours apt.
Soon after that we were off to the TSG qualifier in Minneapolis, MN. OMG PLAYBOY is LEET with their 20 sensitivity, $10 mouse and keyboard and currently ranked #1 in OGL Central Open. We thought we were gonna win but it seems we lack experience. We took 3rd outta almost 20 teams. At TSG we met our local rival NRT. They were a local team to us and played in the same pub server... pub server HAHAHA... there were a few good teams at this qualifier. I was sad to see Funks team disqualified for using some shit with scripts. i never really asked... i just saw the team (without funk) standing outside waiting for the bus. We lost to TSG twice on cbble... gg tvang for picking cbble again at the mall of america... in front of hundreds of spectators. anyways... we lost and r3z beat TSG and took first. OMG... the arguments on the way home from TSG was .... gg blame each other.
After TSG we were bumped up to CaLM. We practiced more and actually used strats. We were preparing for the MidwestFrag in Illinois. It was goin to be our biggest lan tournament yet. We had to bring our own comps which was a pain. We drove there and it took like 14 hours in a Big Chevy 1983 full conversion van... later known as the PLAYBOY van... to the midwest frag. It was a fun lan. I met frank for the first time and a lot of cal i players. There was about... hmm... 40 teams? i think and we placed top 5. rdw won the tourny. gg 90 accord no room to move.
The next tournament PLAYBOY attended was in rockford, illinois (OMG the ride there seemed forever) at a small lan center called LAN PLANET. when we first arrived we met da_bears. he was working there... i think. the next day we met jaden, ghettosmurf and some of their friends. there were only 7 teams there so the winner would not recieve an autobirth. we were kinda bummed out but because of the long ride... we stayed and played. again we lost on cbble to a very good pug called hkkp.(hellenkellerkillingposse). towards the end of the tournament we played jaden, da_bears, ghettosmurf and 2 others in their pug on prodigy. we had to beat them and hkkp twice to win tournament. it was a close match on prodigy... we had to win the last 4 rounds as t to win and we did it... score was 13-11. my favorite memory at this lan was when it was 5 pb's vs jaden. he was 0-5 and cvang yelled out... dont let him kill u he's 0-5. hahaha... jaden yelled back HEY! we all laughed. anyways... we came back and beat hkkp twice on clanmill and inferno. after we won i had an incredible feeling. the feeling of our first win on lan. GG PLAYBOY!
Unfortunately for us we didnt attend the cpl that winter2001 but we played well in cal M and was bumped up to cal invite. In the spring we went to a regional qualifier at a local lan center... NorthlanGaming. We took 1st but there was only 3 teams. From that win it took us to milwaukee, wisconsin where we attended a cpl qualifier at milwaukee pc. there were a lot of good teams there. this would be playboys first official lan tournament vs good clans. clans like fraggers(moxley was there), wfc, db, wewt and others and red legions draft team that didnt make it to the lan. we lost to wfc on cbble and had to beat fraggers on prodigy to win the tournament. gg spm.
Well a few months went by with a lot of lan practice and hard work we were rdy to go to the cpl. we were goin to rent a car and drive to dallas. things didnt work out so we took the greyhound. at first we decided we were gonna go to dallas in my toyota extended cab pick up and buy a new topper for it so guys could sit in the back for the ride to dallas. that plan failed so we had to buy bus tickets. my god... ill never forget that trip.
When we first got to dallas we almost got jacked by this fake taxi driver. luckily we were smart enough not to take the ride. we walked around looking for our hotel. seems we were a little far from it so we rented a taxi and it brought us 10 miles away from the hyatt regency (nice hotel though). anyways... the cpl is a gamers paradise. being there was like a dream. it was like everything you worked hard for and now youre there. we met up with our friends from [Mi](murder inc. calM) and they let us use their comps for practice (what a disadvantage not having a byoc spot... *sigh). many teams were practicing and preparing. to sum this up it was a great experience and next time *if we go again... we will be better prepared (bring ur own computers so u dont fight with euros over the pracitce ones). we had a first round by because we won an autobirth, so our first match was vs irongiants... caldraft on nuke. we won that match. then went on to play cbble vs tau. we lost. went to losers brackett played dust2 vs puntoCL and lost. we placed between 20-30 at the summer2002 cpl. not very good but im happy about that achievement. it was a long ride home and we talked about taking a break from cal i and cs.
after our break... we changed our name to will over skill (w0s). we had a new line up too because some of us were gonna be inactive. we recruited decimosis(GB), gogeta(wfc), and spicyrice(bor). somehow we never built chemistry with this team and we fell apart. dropped out of cal i and all the pbs retired from cs. We did attend another lan tournament with w0s with the original 5 pbs at NorthlanGaming and faced TSG on cbble. we took TSG into overtime and won. after this tournament we were gonna go to ontario for a cpl autobirth but we decided to call it quits. everyone was too busy and had no time for cs. LIEZ! after the break up sosinski joined #shiftpoint i joined #jp-clan, #veritas and now #5e. svang and i play for 5e but as for cvang he is retired from cs and tvang just pubs.
PLAYBOY went from OGL to CaL invite... then CPL. I had a lot of fun attending cpl events and shared some great memories with PLAYBOY. The only serious team i played for was PLAYBOY clan. Three of them were my brothers and one good friend (sosinski).
someday when we are really old and there is a lot of money out there for gamers PLAYBOY will return.
