CS has always had more facetime on GF. I believe it is due to alot of the writers and staff enjoy it over other games. So they choose to write about what they enjoy.

Someone has to live in the past, why not GF <sarcasm>. I mean look they have the revival tour and all to show it.

1.6 is dead in the US as a major competitive game.

i think the best thing to do is not post in these topics and make no response... let them sound like idiots. but of course everyone is pretty stupid so that wont happen and 100 more threads just like this will be made in the next week

yea i'm not gonna lie, gotfrag is biased towards 1.6. however, gotfrag covers e-sports, and right now source is just not that big. outside of CGS, you ain't got much, so wtf can they report on?

All of the people in this thread claiming that Gotfrag has some kind of 1.6 bias are absolute morons. The fact is that there is one overarching criterion which governs what Gotfrag chooses to report on: money. Gotfrag reports on games and events that actually bring them page views and make them money. Did any of you Source folks actually consider the simple fact that the number of people that actually care about your game isn't even remotely close to the number of people that care about CS 1.6? Because, despite what some people are deluded into thinking thanks to the CGS' adoption of Source, the numbers have *never* been close, and they're *still* not close.

That's one good reason. Let's look at another, shall we? Since it first came around, I've known Gotfrag as a North American eSports coverage site to provide coverage primarily for two kinds of events: major North American tournaments, and major international tournaments that feature North American teams. In the past year or so, they've also expanded and provide limited coverage of some of the European 1.6 leagues such as ESL and EPS. To briefly touch upon this coverage, the latter of these is not because of bias, but because *gasp* there's a huge community of people in North America and around the world that actually follow 1.6, and covering these European online leagues gets Gotfrag page views from both the North American and European community. In any case, with the sole exception of these European online leagues, which I just explained, Gotfrag coverage always involves North American teams in some way, shape, or form. So, taking that into account... what exactly is there for Gotfrag to cover as far as Source goes?

CEVO, right. There's CEVO, and they cover that. What exactly are they omitting, then? Can anyone name a major North American or international Source tournament that Gotfrag hasn't covered?

...actually, can anyone name a major North American or international Source tournament, period (besides the CGS)? Because I sure can't.

The fact is, folks, that there really isn't anything for Gotfrag to cover. People in the Source community love to delude themselves into thinking there's actually some kind of activity in the community in North America, again thanks to CGS picking up Source (the community's only bragging point at the moment) but there just isn't. There are no major North American tournaments outside of the CGS, and there are no prestigious international tournaments that use the game. What exactly is Gotfrag supposed to report on? Sure, there are some region-specific tournaments here and there, in Australia for example. But if you want reporting on those, go to GotGames.au. Gotfrag has never provided major coverage of region-specific events that don't involve North America, and the only exception to this - ever - is the aforementioned coverage of Europe's most prestigious online leagues, all of which use 1.6 as their primary team-based fps title, and pump most of their money into that version of CS.

So, in short. Stop flaming Gotfrag. It's not Gotfrag's fault that Source has nothing significant whatsoever happening outside of the CGS. I'm not going to get into a debate about 1.6 and Source - play the version that you like. But don't claim that Gotfrag has some kind of "1.6 bias"; that's legitimately absurd. When there's something worth reporting on in Source, Gotfrag provides coverage. Don't scapegoat Gotfrag because there's nothing to cover in t
