I'm going to attempt the unthinkable and create a "serious" thread on a forum that used to be decent but has been overrun with trolls...
List who you think are the top 5 teams in North America. For those of you who don't know, GXL is coming up at the end of October and many of the top teams will be attending, and I think it will be interesting to get everyone's opinions before it all goes down.
My list (somewhat bias :p)
1. x3o - When you put 2 top awps on the same team, good stuff goes down. AZK has been the best awp since CGS died and adren has always been a factor. The fact that they have kept their core chemistry with Legend, AZK, and PEX has helped the two new comers integrate quite easily.
2. Vitriolic NA - The all-star lineup features one of the best riflers of all time in warmach1ne and one of the oldest and best minds of the game in ramb0. Clown's awp has always been good and, if devour's getting serious about the game again, he is certainly a force.
3. Sita - Another collection of old all-stars, this zombler-esque mixture of players can work really well together at times. Although a little less consistent than the teams listed above, they definitely have the experience and the skill to beat the best.
4. Crucial Connextion (:P) - I know, I know, but this pick is only but so biased. I can tell you that we play the best teams and do well or beat them on a consistent basis. Also, no one in esea-im has even come close to beating us since picking up myself and torrr. UTP, FMB, and Aks already had a great thing going... they just needed a lil' bump from two players who have played at the top level. Since Sita and Vitriolic have some Westies and I doubt they'll make the flight to GXL, I predict x3o and us to take 1 and 2 at GXL :D
5. Team Dynamic - I think they made a lot of pick-ups for the better of their team. They've had a rocky season, but having beat x3o this past week, they've shown they've been able to compete. I believe the core of their team will show up to GXL, so it will be interesting to see what they bring to the table.
Well, that's about it. List your own or let me know what you think about mine. Actual, intelligent, comments are both welcome and preferred ;)
I have no idea what you're talking about, lol. I never said anything about a spot being hijacked and ryan and I are still good friends to this day. I never "cried", let alone even talked to CEVO. I have earned my own CEVO-P PT spot under c2, so there's really no reason why I would say anything to Celone and Co.
And your second:
I listen the top 5 teams in my mind. If others disagree, which I'm sure many do, they will let me know.
I could go on, Austin, but your hatred of me seems to have come from nowhere, so I will just throw it up to confusion.
After the the last few seasons of CEVO P and esea I would say DaZeD has been the best awp since CGS with AZK being a close #2 after this dominant esea season, also no Netcode? they are clearly top 3.
Although you have to sift between the ignorant comments and blatant trolls, it's nice to read some comments that actually contribute to the discussion at hand. At the risk (or pretty much guarantee) that I will get flamed, I will address a few concerns:
#9 - I agree that sunman hasn't done well on that squad, he's really the only player bringing them down. I don't know what circumstances tn- and solraK left the roster, but I would take tn-'s rifle over sunman any (recent) day. That being said, AZK and Adren's awps have carried them through this season along with a still-solid rifle in legend.
#10thru14 - The team itself is not dead, the sponsor has just chosen to drop them. The roster consisting of devour, clown, rambo, and warmach1ne is still second in my mind, even if they aren't sponsored by the same org.
#18 - I would never and could never say DaZeD is the best awper. He refuses to hold a corner. If you watch him play, he will jump an angle, run all the way back, and then repeek the next angle. He never tries to hit a decent shot and never just waits for picks. And the reason why NCi will not be in the top 5 is simple and can be explained with one word: Freakazoid.
#19 - ridic might have the best awp in the game, but he's so frustrating to play with... it doesn't really matter. A player cannot go completely mute in matches and expect to be called the "best AWP in source". I'm not taking anything away from his shot, but I just wouldn't put him above or even close to AZK.
#21 - I agree Ethan, it's a good opportunity to breathe life back into source. I just hope that all the teams that say they're going to show up will...
Hey if the top teams are coming to the GXL, they need to start registering if we hope to see a nice prize pot. If you guys have any question about the event, feel free to message me in #thegxl
#25, Tuned and Karlos both went inactive, it was largely based on the fact that there aren't enough LANs and everyone is online as fvck these days. I was RLY sad went Karlos told me because he's been one of my favorite players since CEVO-P s2 :'(
I would still take vitriolic or ayedog over x3o on LAN any day and maybe even online now that mustang is back. mustang, rambo, devour, clown, and warmach1ne is an insane line up that i dont even think x3o can beat especially on lan considering those player's experience. so i think it is a toss up for 1 and 2. then i agree with sita being 3.
as for 4 and 5. i think crev must be considered in this and i cant wait to see how esea invite next season plays out with the new teams coming in. i still the netcode will be better than crev and c2 but maybe im wrong.
1.x3o - I don't think there's any disputing this considering how well AZK and adREN have been playing recently. The only argument against them I could possibly think of is that sunman isn't fragging very hard at all (and their train sucks as a result of this). AZK is easily the best awper in the game at the moment.
2.SitA - I had to put these guys above ayedog just because of how good they are with ridic in the mix. Griff is back on their roster and it would seem that these guys are going to be picked up by vtL if you read the article on cadred.
3.ayedog - It's really a close one between SitA and ayedog in my opinion. Both teams have a lot of experience on LAN and I think you can expect every match between these guys to be very close. Hopefully they stay motivated and I think that's really the difference between them being the best.
4. HGH - The reason I put these guys in before dynamic is simply because dynamic is without ANGER, Glockateer, and xpz making their lineup complete garbage. DaZeD whether you like him or not is the 3rd best awp in the game and certainly the #1 aggressive awp. Freakazoid has better aim than most of the players in invite and just needs to hone his tactics\smarts. Also with the addition of Polar (Who's nutty if you have ever seen him play) They should be a force online. LAN is a completely different story and I think that's where they need to prove themselves.
5. Dyn - No other team comes close to Dynamic or any of the teams I put in the top 4. DUBE has shown that he's certainly a good player and I really think it all comes down to what kind of lineup they're going to have. As I stated earlier they will have a tough time beating anyone in the top 4 simply because their lineup is shaky without any players that have proven themselves. This is kind of a toss up and we'll see how they do.

#35 has a pretty reasonable run down, I still stick with mbp's though.
The problem with Dynamic is they don't have a consistent 5. It seems like DUBE is the only player they've had in all their matches. One day Glockateer and xpz, the next day ER1cc and demonic, it's like they're a really good pug of random players. I'll agree here though, DUBE is a really good player and team captain, besides that his Awp skill does hang with AZK and adrEN. If ER1c and demonic stay in the starting five, maybe they'll have some consistency.
don't know why zomblerz are underestimated. they were essentially in the top 10 best NA teams when cgs was around. back in the days when pos/ph4m/struk still played :(
i would say ridic/dazed/clown/azk/adren are pretty nasty awpers. best for the NA scene. would love to see some amazing lineups happen for gxl.
I'm so proud of everyone (for the most part) for making this an actual intellectual discussion. Again, to address some comments:
#35 - "POLAR is nutty" ... remember, bunny hopping is now illegal in counter-strike source, making this player less than effective. No offense to polar because I'm sure he's a nice guy, but the fact that he could bunny hop into B on d2 before you crossed DD from CT spawn is the only thing that made that kid any good. And, also, saying freakazoid has good aim is a sin.
#38 - x3o is a full on LAN roster. They've played many lans recently and have been able to dominate them all. I will say that, at their prime, a roster of musty, devour, etc. would be able to destroy anyone... but, at ETS, devour struggled and hardly even seemed to care. At this point in time, I'd take x3o over AYEDOG any day.
#41 - the reason zomblerz is underrated is because this ISN'T the CGS days anymore. Of course they were the top 10 2 years ago, but it's a different game now and they don't spend nearly as much time as they used to
when we played with polar earlier in the season I was impressed, aside from him pulling his internet cord when getting yelled at, he is a pretty smart player and seemed to enjoy not bhopping since he didn't die as much. He has a solid shot and is a good player
Since ayedog now has mustang again, and since they have incentive to practice, I'd bet they win ESEA Invite. x3o, no offense, played no one good @ ets. They were taken into OT by area51 and only played against pugs and local canadian teams. I think x3o is good no doubt, but they are extremely beatable and ayedog > x3o > sita. Maybe ayedog > sita > x3o on lan.
Zomblerz are weird, they have a lot of talent and they even practice now, but they just don't seem to have it all together like they used too. They have great shots and all, but they are lacking something, and even though they are winning the majority of their matches, I see them losing to every other team in playoffs except HGH or Dynamic (whomever it is). Plus as of right now I'm curious as to how they are getting to texas because it costs more (like $300/400) for a ticket right now, and the payout isn't even worth it if you're paying your own way there.
HGH I think would've been a threat with their original roster. I don't think freakazoid will be able to compete against ayedog / zomblerz / x3o at a bigger lan than a howies. The strengths of HGH are dazed/frozt/polar, but unless caseyfoster is paying for them all to get to Texas, I don't know how they are getting there.
Dynamic if they ever settled on a solid five and stuck with it would probably have a better record than HGH. That and if dynamic took the start of seasons seriously. Season after season they just pug it until they have to start winning, then they actually give a damn and put in the effort and usually come up just a bit short of playoffs etc.
#42 gravitas roster :D. i have been a zomblerz fan for quite some time. they were my favorite team for years until the venom roster with brawr and mustang came.
ph4mm/rambo/mustang/ridic/azk. that roster if they practiced and played could EU how good american source can be.
org/warden/deciple/brawr/zid. thats probably the best dream lineup ever for NA.
#43 i am almost happy bhopping is now illegal. you see players that based their entire play style on it. now without it they are no longer special.
@mbp - Just because there's the big hate Freakazoid train going on doesn't mean that you have to say dumb things like Freakazoid doesn't have good aim. Are you kidding me man? You honestly don't think Freakazoid has good aim? Let us look at some statistics.
freakazoid - 0.274
moenkhaus - 0.267
griff - 0.248
As you can clearly see, Freakazoid has the highest hsp in all of ESEA-Invite. He also has the 5th highest ADR in the league with a .760 fpr (which should be higher according to his ADR, but .760 is still very good especially for someone who rifles more than they awp).
Now go watch the demos this season from Freakazoid, keep all these stats in mind and then tell me he doesn't have good aim without looking like a complete moron.
