(Germany) - The four day World Cyber Games Samsung European Championships come to a close today with the completion of all tournaments including the Counter Strike Source tournament. 18 teams have been narrowed down to two of the best Europe has to offer.

Spain has remained on top of the winners bracket with wins over Norway, Finland, Poland and Romania. Spain is now poised to face Poland again for the Grand Final. The first match between these two was exciting and one of the best in the tournament. Poland must win two maps against Spain to win the championship. Spain, coming from the winners bracket, must win only one map to be the champions.

Update: Spain has won the match and are the World Cyber Games Samsung European Championships Counter Strike Source tournament champions although not without controversy. Poland lodged a complaint upon conclusion of the match and Spain was found to have played the match with altered cfg files. Spain was yellow carded and penalized six rounds for the infraction. The penalty was not enough to lift Poland past the deficit and Spain has been crowned champion.

#17 To be fair Pentagram can hardly be called online... they won the last SEC beating some good euro teams (though during a time when lots of the top teams were going through big changes. And that tournament was on 1.6, not some cartoon fps.

Pentagram has done VERY well on lan before in 1.6. I don't know about source though, I didn't even know they played source. Maybe it was just for this tournament. Can someone clarify this? But calling Pentagram online is just ignorant considering their past results at 1.6 tournaments.

As a point, x6 aren't top 10 in the world at all anymore. Don't get egos, Spaniards still aren't good at Counter-Strike 1.6.

Well I can understand admins decision - just imagine what would happen if they would disqualify the ones who won the cup. It would be quite a scandal no matter who was right, while with decision like that they are "only" incompetent. So imo they were just afraid of consequences, especialy since other teams like Virtus.pro also protested.

Of course tho it is understandable I cant agree with their decision. Being referee myself Im always rather strict when it come to such things, and I know that I would be the first one to say "they need a painful punishment" in such situation.

On the other hand Im not a counterstrike player, and I dont even like this game. So tho I saw top world teams competing on lans, and understand the game itself , can catch mistakes, tactics and so on, I dont really know how big difference these forbiden commands did. But still, they were forbiden for a reason, didnt they ?

i dont know what 'altered cfgs' x6tence used but...why would you even bother to use "illegal cfgs" or whatever @ an event as big as this. i dont get it....it makes no sense lol if you're good enough, which most of these teams are, you shouldnt feel the need to "cheat" or whatever you guys would like to call it. nevertheless, gj x6tence for winning, all the teams did well i guess lol.
