GotFrag European writer Elliot "Chimera" Falvert-Martin talks with Paul "Death" Willis of Team AuxiliA in his first assignment.
First of all thanks for taking the time to talk to us. What do you think of CAL-Europe so far?
I think CAL-E was always going to be great news for Europe and the way pre season has gone it looks to be very promising for the main event. It looks like it will be one of the main CSS events over the summer which is great news. We, like many others, look forward to playing it. I just hope it can get the coverage in Europe that the likes of ClanBase and TWL get.
Recently AuxiliA has not been very active, is this because of the changes to the line-up?
What I can say is we have been to hell and back in terms of our roster. We lost total 7 members (most founding members of side) so it was a huge loss but I would say we still gave a pretty good account of our selves in many of top cups / leagues, which I don’t think is bad for just turning up and playing without any pcw’s or strats. However we are on the verge of finalising a roster that will allow us to practise solidly and give a more accurate account of ourselves.
Which teams in CAL-E you are looking forward to playing against?
There are a lot of talented sides out there and competitions like this tend to give unknown teams a rise to fame so to speak. However we always enjoy playing likes of insignia cadre, Logitech.fi, n!faculty and many others so it promises to be exciting stuff.
What do you think AuxiliA's strong points are? Do you have any favourite maps?
I think our strong points are that we stick together as a team (some of us) through the tough times and come out on top. Most of all that we are experienced players that work well as a team. In terms of our favourite map, pfft any map we can let jam0r loose to frag on!
What do you think about the E-Sports scene in Europe compared to the States?
I think the states have a lot more press for source in particular but recently Europe is fighting back and you see more Americans mixing / ringing w/e yanks call it :P with the euro’s and also taking a note of scores / results going on in euro scene which is great to hear. However, overall I think e-sports is balanced well with a lot of European players having good success, same with Americans.
AuxiliA is currently competing in the ClanBase EuroCup XII CS:Source tournament. AuxiliA's first match in CAL-Europe CS:Source is June 5th against Section9. More information on the team can be found at http://www.teamaux.co.uk/ . More information about CAL Europe Open CS:Source go here.
