CAL Invite SV 3:2 - Contra
|
| Eminence

vs
Wat? Gaming

|
Though currently at a dissappointing 0-2, Eminence is a proven team and no doubt one of the most skilled in the game. Though they lost a tough match to powerhouse-in-the-making definitioN, they also managed to get a respectable 12 rounds on actual powerhouse verGe, the closest challenge thus far. Plus after finalizing their roster, Eminence is looking towards a bright future in competition. The same goes for Wat? Gaming, who after being moved down, petitioned CAL for their Invite spot back and has thus-far proved their worth with stunningly unexpected wins, bringing them to a 4-1 record. Tonight will be a true test for both teams: both teams feel they have to win to maintain momentum and prove their worth. In what will be a great match to watch, Eminence will take this in a close one.
Eminence > Wat? 17-13

| Cardboard Robots

vs
Visual Gaming

|
Cardboard Robots so far sits with a good start at a 2-1 record, taking down the recently reformed Hyper! by a huge margin in their first match, followed by a close win over last seaon's CAL-Main Atlantic champions, electrify!. In week 2 their fortunes changed with a a loss to a team that is increasingly becoming a powerhouse in Source competition, Forbidden. Visual Gaming on the other hand, plauged by cheating accusations in inactivity, has an uncertain future. They have played no matches to date, though no team has as of yet forfeited them. Regardless, this match would go to Cardboard Robots.
Cardboard Robots > Visual Gaming 17-13

| definitioN

vs
verGe

|
And the competition heats up. Definition, last season's CAL-Main Pacific champs and recent Invite moveup, has not suffered the usual fate of the new kids on the block in Invite. At an excellent 3-1 record (with one match pending), they've downed such veteran teams as Eminence and TEoS (though surprisingly dropping a big loss to Wat?). Their opponent for this week, VerGe, needs no introduction. Doing their thing as always, verGe has put up absolutely huge numbers on some great teams, earning an impressive 4-0 record. In what will be the truest of tests for definitioN, they'll face their fearcest competition yet. Unfortunately for them, I don't see the more experienced and arguably more skilled verGe dropping one here.
VerGe > definitioN 20-10

| Devastation

vs
The Edge of Sanity

|
Arguably weakened by their post-TXGF roster shakeups, Devastation has had some surprising matches. Though they have two matches pending, they managed to take last season's Invite runners-up into overtime in a tough loss, but nearly drop what seemed like a sure win to a 1-4 Hyper! With two matches pending, Dev sits at a make-or-break 1-1, and this match will play an important role in setting the course for this season of Invite. TEoS has likewise had some tough matches, gaining an (expected) loss to VerGe in week 1, but also dropping two tough albiet close matches to Project Circuit and definitioN, followed by a blowout by Wat? Gaming. Though their match with Forbidden is still pending, TEoS has their work cut out for them if they wish this to be a successful season as Dev, regardless of their recent changes, is still stacked with skilled players.
Dev > TEoS 18-12

| electrify!

vs
Forbidden

|
Following the typical pattern of a recent moveup, electrify! has had some tough losses welcoming them into Invite. However, as is the case with most new moveups, after a big loss in week 1, they adjusted their play and closed the gap in later matches. Forbidden needs little introducton: two-time Invite runners-up and sitting at a respectable 3-1, they'll pose electrify!'s biggest test yet. And if electrify! hopes to pass, they'll have to pull out all the stops.
Forbidden > electrify! 21-9
|
| Project Circuit

vs
Hyper!

|
After some inactivity and uncertainty, Hyper! appears to have resolved their problems and resumed practice for Invite: bad news for Project Circuit. Sitting at a grossly disappointing 0-3, PC has dropped close match after close match to opponents they know they can beat. This new Hyper! is also off to a disappointing start, but I've got a feeling that that ends here. With new preparation and drive, Hyper! takes this match.
Hyper! > PC 19-11
