GotFrag continues the FIVE series with Don "Ragg3h" Chung of GHZ.
First of all can you tell us a little bit about Your team, not many people in the UK, never mind the US have heard of you?Well our team is GHZ or Green Hill Zone ( Name will be changed ). We was mainly formed from a group of mates from CCS, We've been in the CSS scene long enough with players from R3'pp (KC and Skz ) , Blk ( multiforce ) , Ritch (ex-Zboard_ and myself (Xcel) . Starbytes LAN for us was a laugh and we didn't expect to go as far as we did, As it was our first competition and to play a Clan like Zboard and do as well as we did i think we did ourselves Justice. Even though at the moment LAN's Like Starbytes are growing, do you still think the eSports scene in general in Europe is growing? The E-sports scene in general within Europe is ever growing with more LANs being set up E g I-Series, Insigina Cadre CSS- Lan. Starbytes Lan..etc, And as the prizes are getting bigger of course the interest will grow. Coverage is slowly increasing with sites like GotFrag.com and Eurocss.net, I think it will really take off when TV Coverage finally arrives. You took on the UK powerhouse side Z-board at Starbytes LAN in double elimination and actually beat them twice times in the seedings but lost once in the double elimination and once in overtime in the final game. What happen in the end?Of course after playing two close games with Zboard the pressure was really on us and at the start of the game we were disappointed but after Zboard said to us "You've done well as a mix" it lifted our spirits up and we managed to take it to overtime, but this is where we lost our flow in the game and Zboard just kept pushing us and in the end took the win. After the game there was no hard feelings, we all ended up drinking amongst each other celebrating not only Zboards win but also the close games we played. Will you be a strictly LAN team or should we be looking out for you soon in the online leagues?Well, we haven't come to a conclusion as of yet, but yes, we do have plans of making a team in the future , maybe not the original members from GHZ, but we sure know now that we do have the potential to beat big teams like Zboard. We will more than likely do both online and lan. Hopefully we will have a team in preparation for the upcomming I-Series event I28. Finally what do you think your strengths are? As your a new team is there still parts of your game to improve on?The strength we have as a new team would be most likely be our communication between each other and that there is no such thing as authority between us, Were all on the same level. I would say one thing for us to improve on is our on faith in ourselves that we can beat the big teams at the big events whether it's online or at a LAN event. Any final Words? I'd have to say, cheers to my players, Ritch, Blk, sKz, and KC for performing such a great game and the teams "Phoenix Faction and Zboard" that attended StarBytes LAN! The biggest shout out has to go to the "Starbytes Team" Although they didn't do too well, they had the sportsmanship to carry on and stick it out, even when the results were so one sided. Was definitely great fun to meet you lads. And a huge thank you again to the Starbytes Staff, for creating a great LAN tournament and having such a friendly atmosphere for us. We will definitely attend the next LAN! A demo of the final map of the Starbytes LAN 2006 Final can be found here. |
