GotFrag catches up with Benedict "STRuk" Kaminski before he departs for Ryu LAN. ![]() Let’s start off with a little introduction for the readers. I’m that rifler you hate to contest, the swift life taker, a relentless storm of focused furiousity! HAHA! OK.. on a serious note now, my name is Benedict Kaminski and I go by the alias STRUK. Having played for Powersgaming, Upper, and now for verGe i've been in the top of the source scene for some time now. I play counterstrike source over 1.6 because I love the solid feel of the game. And lastly I’m a believer in the samurai way of life. Over the past few weeks verGe has been slipping in their online play, what are some reasons for this? Each team will have their ups and down, and in the Cevo finals losing quite a bit of rounds we really should have not on paper, dropped a feeling where we beat ourselves within the team. And excuses aside the following Cal match we frankly played with just going through the motions with our minds and hearts figuring out the cevo loss. What separates us from some teams however is we can unite after some cool down time. Refocus individually and solidify our faith in each other and come back better then before. I think our most recent play and in game/vent chemistry is proof. How are the Ryu LAN preparations coming along? How serious is verGe taking this LAN? We are coming into this event driven to win. The competition is strong and our full effort to be strategically, mentally and game play-style prepared will be given. What are your thoughts about the seedings for this event? Having a 13th seed at CPL and finishing 2nd knocking out the 1st and 3rd seed that event, I’m not a big believer in seeds. If your team is prepared to win an event u are attending seeding won't make a difference. We go into the preliminary seeding as #1 but u can guess how much I care about that. What kind of turnout were you expecting for RYU LAN? What other top teams would you like to have seen attend this LAN? I think the amount of top tier teams attending is what I expected; there are a handful of teams that can win the event! It’s always a battle when I play my old teammates on EFG. So ya they woulda been a nice addition, however Hyper and us have a little unfinished business ^___^. The games are going to be worth watching! When will verGe be arriving at the venue, do you guys have anything planned? I and the other 2 polaks will be there midday Friday and the 2 others slightly later. I haven't attended a US lan since Lanfest New York so I plan to make friends and hospitalize my enemies. HAHA! Seriously here... there’s going to be a lot of good people and it will be an exciting event! How is this verGe line-up different from previous verGe rosters? Well the most obvious difference is Cannon, the player before me, was an awp user. Playing for verge and setting into a slight 2ndary leadership role I make an effort to bring the emotion to fuel momentum every day. I believe the biggest difference is the style of play tends to be more explosive and aggressive compared to the old Verge, slow and meticulous style. What teams do you expect will do well? What teams are you guys watching out for? I predict all of the top 10 seeds to be well prepared. How excited are you guys about attending another CS:Source LAN? Can't wait, we got a lot of character and love in our group and to just experience competition together in a local setting will be fantastic. It’s a pleasure to know and play with the guys I do. And this competition I have no doubt will be a great time. I have to thank verGe gaming and directly Matt Marcou, the team owner, for making this possible. Thanks for your time; do you have any parting words? Sometimes I’m in no position to say it, but for those reading this I have an important teaching. In anything competitive you'll always go farther with respect, to your opponents, teammates and yourself. Dishonorable acts only limit your options and blacken the opinions of those who otherwise could have helped u advanced to your goals. Heed my words kids. Tune into the flurry of headshots coming from my muzzle to your SourceTV soon. Finally, I'd like to recognize our team sponsors which include SteelSeries, Icemat, Nuclearfallout Enterprises, JkayGFX, and Nation Voice. They give us tremendous support and help keep the team at the top of our game. Thank you Brandon and www.gotfrag.com |
