EFG Laurent “warmach1ne” Keoula Moe Assad Yazan “clown” Ammari Justin “sunman” Summy *Mike “paradox” Stanowski The players of EFG have been the flag bearers of competitive source play, but recently they have been in a slump generated mostly from inactivity. After CGI the future of EFG looked bright, but thus far this season, they have been unable to live up to the expectations of many of their fans. Before this season, with competitive source play stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of the same teams and players battling it out season after season, EFG didn't have much to work for. They were the top team, they had been playing together for a long time, and they had so much chemistry that they were really the only team that really didn't need to practice to stay good. With the influx of new talent both from the 1.6 teams and the source community itself, it has become harder to stay solid without the preparedness and thoroughness that the professional 1.6 teams bring to the table. Teams like Hyper! and verGe have adopted these methods of preparing and are excelling, but EFG has been stuck dealing with issues external to gaming. The loss of Clark obviously had an effect on the team chemistry, and recently due to other external issues, clown has gone inactive (although he will be participating in this tournament). p0s will be sitting out for this tournament and an announcement from EFG is pending. Warmachine has had a sub par season thus far, and sunman has only had a positive K/D in one of the matches this season. Due to all of these factors, EFG has called on the help of Mike "paradox" Stanowski from long time rival team verGe. parodox has incredible stats this season with 240 frags and eight 4 frag rounds. He has been one of the most dominant players in all of source play recently and will be on loan to EFG courtesy of Verge Gaming. Similarly, m0e is having a great season with 245 frags. Warmachine had this to say about the lineup: "I think we're going to win the tourney, problem is of course we aren't going to be able to practice much for it cause yaz is retired. He is only showing up for the matches but we're very familiar with the maps." EFG has a habit of turning up the heat when it matters most and hopefully, they can put on a show for us. If any team has the ability to win with little practice, it is this one. It is hard to predict what will happen with this untested but talented lineup, but it is sure to be exciting. compLexity Danny “frod” Montaner Marcus “zet” Sundström Matt “warden” Dickens Ronald “rambo” Kim Tyler “storm” Wood coL has come out strong since their switch to source and really wowed everyone with their dominance. They have yet to be even tested in match play and are easily the most active CEVO-Professional team. coL studies, strats, and plays the maps to the point of exhaustion. Despite their short time in the source competitive scene they already have a better grasp of the game and its nuances than most of the teams that have been playing it for years. They average close to twenty two rounds per match, which is extremely impressive considering their schedule thus far. coL has played every team in the top eight for CEVO-P except for Hyper! and EG and they have only dropped more than eleven rounds twice. The most amazing thing about this team is that they are relentless no matter the situation, they want to put the opponents away in the first half, but they don't stop pounding away until the match is over. The team's stats speak for themselves, every member has around 160 frags in CEVO with a good number on both the offensive and defensive ends. The only real anomalies in the stats are fRoD's insane numbers, he is currently sitting on the highest DAR (average damage per round) in all of source with 103.2, the best FPR (frags per round) at 1.063, and highest K/D with positive 103. He has 220 kills, fourteen 3 frag rounds, five 4 frag rounds, and an ace. These high numbers are not surprising considering how badly coL has beaten most of the teams they have played this season, but what is interesting is the trend in their closer matches. In the two closest matches against the strongest two teams that coL faced in CEVO fRoD was not the statistical leader. Storm took a demanding role against verGe and EFG going positive 16 and 14 respectively, and averaging 1.05 FPR and close to 94 DAR. With a dominating force like fRoD and a player that really steps up during crunch time in Storm, coL has the be the favorite to win this tournament.
