Round 3: Train

EFG vs Hyper!
After CAL-I and CGI finals it was evident that the rivalry between EFG and Hyper! was going to be a lasting one. In this tournament the fans get to see another example of what makes these two teams great. Both of these teams have a very strong Terrorist game on Train with EFG working heavily with AKs on the outside site hitting all entry points at the same time, and with Hyper! using a similar method with more awp picking and some strong inner rushes. One player in particular from the Hyper! camp loves this map. Train is like an awper's dream and Foerster usually uses his extremely proficiently on this map. Watch for him to be coming out of ladder frequently and picking through the gaps in the trains. Also watch for Hyper! to be smoking up inside, flashing the lanes, and pushing with their AKs while Foerster picks rotators from the back. EFG thrives on running the pain train at ivy, they will often send three players there and just roll through then quickly spread themselves out among the trains outside watching the various rotation points. On their CT side EFG usually opts to put Warmachine inner alone and he quick rotates to where he is needed. In my opinion the key for both of these teams is controlling inner. If EFG allows Hyper! to have their way on the inner rushes the match is pretty much decided, but if Hyper! is unable to take inner it takes away the pressure on EFG and allows Warmachine to play more freely. Ultimately I don't think EFG has the coordination right now to stop Hyper!'s offense. Look for TN, shredder, and badapples to get up close with colts at varying positions under, on top of, and beside trains and effectively crossfire any entry point on their CT side. Nearly every round in this match the team that gets the first frag will get the round as well. With Hyper!'s strong entry frag ability I think they will get the majority of those opening kills.

Gn0me’s Prediction: Hyper! > EFG 16-12

compLexity vs Team3D
We have not seen either of these lineups compete on Train in Source as of yet, but we will get our first glimpse at what these teams have in store for their opponents this weekend. Team3D has had a bit of a problem with consistency this season, but they will need to quickly fix it if they want to have a chance in this match up. There are so many entry points on train that if a team is weak at any one of them it will throw their whole CT side off. I expect ladder to be a major point of contention in this match, due to the angles and the gaps between the trains it will be interesting to see how these teams play that spot. coL will likely have zet working ivy fast while they send an AWPer and AK ladder and one or two players mid. Their T side will be crisp and quick as they smoke flash and rush, because of coL's coordination as soon as one of 3D's members falls the others will be getting hit in the side as well as from the spot they are holding. 3D's T side will likely revolve more around them getting a pick then hitting the sites quickly as a group instead of the more spread out approach. I expect them to have a strong inner rush and timed smokes to block the lanes. If coL can manage to stop the early plant inside I think this match is theirs. Train rewards entry/picking ability more than any other map and coL has proven that they are second to none in that category. In my opinion 3D will be hanging on for dear life most of the match.

Gn0me’s Prediction: coL > 3D 16-10

Projected round robin scores:
coL: 3-0
Hyper!: 2-1
Team3D: 1-2
EFG: 0-3

Finals match up:
coL versus Hyper!
