Hyper! col and 3d should feature strong in the source competition. Rsports (if they attend) will be pretty hot too
See ya there!!
For the original Source teams, its their one chance to validate to themselves their choice of playing CS:S these last couple of years, through all the criticism and oppression.
And for the former 1.6 teams, there's even more pressure. It's make or break for them. If they should fail to qualify for CGS, then the whole point in switching to Source will have been a fool's errand from which they gained absolutely nothing.
This is a momentous time for Counter-Strike.
madden would be a better game for x360 instead of that boring ass racing. thats where the real trash talkers play.
and yeh CGS needs to let teams know how many more qualifers their is going to be so teams can decide if they wanan make this trip or not.
does this mean FIFA in CGS?
OMG. YES.
other than cs:s, each of the other cgs titles will be multiple tournaments at Buy.com LAN where attendees can enter multiple times and across multiple games. this is your chance to qualify to get to the cgs national event.
Prizes for tournaments are pretty much worthless at this point (yeah they are nice) but all professional sports are a contracted league, not just praying for a few good tournaments/year. The moment of truth is basically upon all the teams on the edge. Time is running out and I wouldn't screw around with a rumored 1million prize for CGS (z.morriz?? anyone confirm?)
Hopefully these types of events will bring out the best in the teams that are seriously preparing, and those teams just trying to get a 750/person (~4k) prize pot once a year will be left in the dust.
Source is seriously on the right track right now, and its so very exciting to see all these new teams (EFG, Forbiddon, Hyper, 50cal, etc) forming.
Let the 1.6ers have thier 2500/person if they win 1st prize at this event. If CGS holds up, they will have to win 10 of those suckers per year just to match your garunteed paycheck.
Good luck to all the source teams (and 1.6 teams switching over) in the future. This is it guys, 2007 is our year.
Not to mention this announcement was late enough as is. People have 20 days now to sign up and get there, pretty ridiculous.
But anyways, seems like theres gonna be plenty of competition because everyone is going to want that Auto-berth
also, weren't you the one asking previously about not being over-looked because you haven't played competitevly for a while? here's your chance to show up, play, and earn an auto-berth. regardless of the late formal announcement, registration has been open for over a month and rumors were abound that this might be a CGS qualifier event. there are currently 34 teams signed up for the cs:s tournament so i think other participants kind of got that hint.
As for the qualifier being late, you have to understand that flight costs are 2x what they normally are right now, that's the only reason I'm upset about that.
And as for me being over-looked, at this point I don't think that's nearly as much of an issue, considering I've proven myself as still being a top player in the game.
Appreciate the response, though. Assuming you are an official of CGS/Buy.com
also, as being part of the production team, i can assure you that Buy.com its sponsors, event partners, and the CGS has been working hard to make sure the first major LAN event of the year on the west coast is going to be one event that anyone attending will not forget. even if you don't win any tournaments, don't be surprised with what you could be walking out with from the event. i'll leave it at that...
one more thing, PNY has stepped up to host a 64 person Quake4 Deathmatch FFA tournament in their booth on Saturday which will be free for all Buy.com LAN attendees. http://ems.esportsea.com/buylan/?a=tourna.. Just make sure that you register and cofirm for any Buy.com LAN event ticket. PNY is putting up the following prizes:
1st: XLR8 8800GTS 640MB Graphics Card and XLR8 1066MHz 2GB (2 x 1GB) Memory Kit
2nd: XLR8 8800GTS 640MB Graphics Card
3rd: XLR8 1066MHz 2GB (2 x 1GB) Memory Kit
#12 agreed.
A player that ends up making a six figures a year in CGS will benefit much more from this qualifier than anyone else.
$350 PER PLAYER, not per team. I'm not debating if thats enough to cover travel expenses, but I'm simply clearing that up.

Could be that 1.6 actually boast bigger prices than CSS.
