CEVO adopts the CGS rules for Season 4 of the CS:Source Professional division. The fourth season of CEVO Counter-Strike: Source Professional is scheduled to begin this month, as the placement tournament to determine which teams will make up the Pro division will start on May 20th. Below is the news release from the CEVO website: Following the recent shift to a non-traditional style of play, CEVO has decided to adjust rules to reflect that change. Identical to the now commonly played CGS format, the CEVO-Professional rule changes are as follows: * 1:20 Round Time * $16,000 Start Money * 1 round, sudden death overtime (subject to change during the regular season) * 9 Rounds Per Half * First team to win 10 rounds, wins the match Due to the CEVO-Professional rule changes, the CEVO-Professional Placement Tournament will reflect the same changes. but smart decision by cevo i guess
CGS matches aren't as fun to watch.. since it does indeed take out many aspects of the game.
Dont cha ya think CEVO is thinking a bit lofty??
Its all about the money now. Way to kick the community in the teeth.
But nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
CGS wants CSS Pro Pubbing to represent eSports.
I do hope they will go back to the regular style of play after CGS teams are locked in so teams main focus is not qualifying for it. Would suck if cevo permanently changed to CGS rules leaving CAL being the only big league with the old rule pro games (especially considering most of the big pro teams don't actually play in it).
with cgs rules
imo
Although I somewhat agree with p0s. That's what CAL-I is doing now.
But this is definitely for the best. It's important to have everyone playing the same at least relatively similar format, because continually having to adjust back and forth would just make results random.
Whether you like the CGS rules or not, for the pro-level CGS is what's most important, and so the CGS rules are what we should be playing. Simple.
really is a case of the dumb leading the blind
How many teams will really care about the CGS rule set after that?
Will the 6 teams in CGS play CEVO ? Doubt it.
You know, because you obviously can't. What with my point being simple, self-evident common sense and all.
#45 There should be opportunities for new teams and players to get drafted into the CGS in between each season of play. So there's your reason for why teams at the top-level will still be interested in the CGS rule set after this first season's cut.
It seems odd they would go to a system that is only geared for entertainment. I guess no one liked the CO rules that seems to fit a bit better IMO.
