Counter-Strike Source: gn0me's U5 versus EG recap

By: Troy Hatfield - Published May 13, 2007 at 8:02 PM EDT - Writer Archive

From this point u5 also played more aggressively and often pushed through one side of the map to effectively cut it off and limit EG to fewer options. EG took catwalk and planted in the site in a spot commonly called "the bad plant." Usually the plant spot is used only when no other is available because it is not easily defensible and the counter terrorists can use the box to shield themselves from just about anywhere. u5 flanked quickly, cleared the site, and defused. EG was forced to use this spot multiple times because they were unable to clear long A.

EG stuck with hitting catwalk and u5 took full advantage, often flanking two players up cat while keeping their long players alive. When everyone was set up, they would retake the A site at the same time with good communication, well timed flashes, and solid timing.

Foogs also took the initiative and started picking mid through the fringes of the smokes that tr1p threw down. He was able to quickly get a kill or make a crucial call that allowed his team to push or rotate.

In the seventh round hahn pushed into the B halls and fragged both Lari and shaGuar (who had the bomb). Once the bomb was down u5 collapsed on its position catching EG trying to get it. Stevenson soon found himself alone in the B bombsite and unable to save his awp. He was fragged as time was running out and was unable to awp again for the remainder of the half.

Despite the fact that EG was low on cash, they were able to win a half buy on the final (9th) round of the half. Stevenson deagled ben through a smoke in the B tunnels while keen and org got a little too aggressive at long A and were picked off by the offense waiting there. EG took B quickly, got the bomb down, and kept themselves alive with a much needed round.
