This is it ladies and gentlemen, the 2007 Championship Gaming Series officially kicks off tonight! It has been a long and exciting wait since the league was announced months ago, and today the dream becomes reality. Six professional gaming franchises will do battle for thousands in cash prizes along with the national spotlight.

The first match of the night will see New York 3D taking on the Carolina Core. Many felt Carolina's Counter-Strike: Source team did not earn their draft spot and tonight will be their first night to prove to everyone that they are just as deserving. It will be no easy task for Mark Dolven's squad as they will be up against the CGS Combine champions, 3D.

Game two will feature the Chicago Chimera up against San Francisco Optx. It will be a huge test for Chimera as they will be without two of their starters, Garett "Grt" Bambrough and Griffin "shaGuar" Benger who have been denied entry into the United States. They will be replaced by two of Chimera's taxi members, Erik "da bears" Stromberg and Justin "sunman" Summy. The Optx are the only non CS 1.6 convert team that are competing in the CGS and will be looking to show that they belong as one of the six franchises competing.

Last but not least, the heavy favorites, LA Complexity, will take on the Dallas Venom. Complexity has been the hands down favorites to win the CGS, but a couple of losses at the CGS Combine along with a tie may show that their dominance may not be guaranteed. Dallas Venom came second at the Combine and have been playing extremely well as of late so this will guarantee to be an incredible match against two very evenly matched opponents.

The CGS is currently planning to run IRC Scorebots in #GotFrag on Gamesurge. There has been no word regarding the availability of SourceTV but the organizers are attempting to have those up and running. Stay tuned for updates and full coverage of the 2007 Championship Gaming Series.

Note: Start times shown in the scoreboard is when the two franchises will play, CS may not be the first game played and therefore may be played later than the specified time. (i.e. If the rotation runs DoA4, PGR3, FIFA then CS, matches will begin approximately one hour later than the original start time)
