After their most recent loss in CEVO-P to Eximius Sports by a score of 13-5, team zEx has announced via their IRC channel, #zEx on Gamesurge, that the zEx name and brand are being retired.

Team A-Captain Chris "deppy" DePaul cites an inability to field a consistent 5-man team; as he puts it, "We were just tired of pugging matches." This was most recently reflected earlier in the season, when it was announced that former team members Charlie "cbz" Pyo, Erik "da_bears" Stromberg, and Justin "sunman" Summy had left the team to join 1.6 team x3o.

At the time of this post, it is unknown what the plans for the current lineup are; however, deppy has intimated that this most likely means that zEx will drop CEVO-P for the remainder of the season. To date, Team zEx's record in CEVO-P is 2-6, with their only wins coming from a forfeit versus United 5 and a 10-8 victory over Team Pandemic in Week 1-2.

Update: Team zEx, like United 5, has dropped CEVO-P for the remainder of the season.

#3 maybe, maybe not, zEx had been seriously faltering for a while there. I'm not surprised to see them pack it in finally. Though I'll miss seeing the zEx name, it's probably for the best at this point.

Sorry some disagree, however I do guarantee this will be a lineup you will see for a long time and we will be putting in the practice to uphold the strong name in zEx.

Wow, they have been around forever.....sad day for counter-strike. IMO, this should be posted in the 1.6 forums as they have so much more history there.

not only was it css, but any competitiveness there was has been killed thanks to the dumbed down gameplay. 16k startmoney, not enough roundtime to do jack, and lowered maxrounds... its not a competitive game anymore. its a shoot-em-up.

zex just hasnt been able to live to their name ever since the 2002-2003 that actually was able to play on an international level, but RIP to zEx

Meh... bring back ShaG, Sunman and Lektrik. The only zEx team worth mentioning in my eyes (or ears..). Everything else has been a pale imitation.
