Counter-Strike Source: zEx retires Name and Brand

By: Carlos A. Mercado - Published September 16, 2007 at 8:03 PM EDT - Writer Archive
After seven years of competing at the highest levels in eSports, Team zEx announces the retirement of the brand and the release of the current Counter-Strike squad. After many long days of contemplation and many discussions, we came to this decision. We believe that it would be in the best interest of the brand and its fans to not continue competing with our current team. Managing Director, Naveen Gavini had this to say, “The decision was a direct result of not being able to put together a consistent five man lineup. I am saddened to let go of this team and brand, it has been around since my very start in the gaming community. During the past year and a half, as Manager of the organization, the team was a huge part of my life. Over the past seven years, zEx has always featured some of the most premiere players in the world and many of these players are still currently competing at the highest of levels with other teams. Some of these players have retired and moved on from gaming. I would like to thank every player that has ever had an involvement in the zEx organization, without your contributions, the brand would not have continued to perceiver until now. I would like to also like to thank all the staff and personnel that have contributed to the brand. Finally, none of this would be possible without the fans and the continued support of our sponsors, you have driven this brand so far, and motivated our players season after season.” Team zEx effective immediately, will be resigning from competing in CEVO-P. We wish the best of luck to all teams and players in the eSports community and thank you for our time here.
