Counter-Strike Source: mibr, g3x in CGS Latin America

By: Luis Mira - Published September 20, 2007 at 12:15 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Made in Brazil and g3nerationx have confirmed their participation in CGS Region 2 Championship.
Both squads have been invited by the CGS organization to attend the Latin American Championship, which will take place from September 20th-23rd at Mexico city.

With the CGS announcing Rio de Janeiro as one of the two Latin American team cities, g3x and mibr feel this to be a great opportunity to participate in a CGS Championship.

However, neither sides will be at their best, as Lincoln “fnx” Lau of g3nerationx and Bruno "bit" Lima of Made in Brazil saw themselves unable to participate in the event due to age restriction.

While g3x will use current manager Alessandro "Apoka" Marcucci, 2006's ESWC champion has opted for Jorge “Jorginho” Elias.

Meanwhile, Made in Brazil confirmed that it has not practiced for this event and that it does not plan on switching games to Counter-Strike: Source.

"None of the players that will be at the event representing MiBR play CS: Source," Leandro "chataum" Loiola, manager in Made in Brazil, told GotFrag.com.

"We were invited by the Latin American organization and we accepted the invitation, it will be a great experience, and if our team is chosen, we will practice a lot for the final championship.

"If we are selected in the draft, we will become a CGS team and play Counter-Strike: Source, and we will create a new Counter-Strike: 1.6 team with other players."

... uh... if they are chosen, they will NEED to play source.

On top of that, mibr is screwed. No no fnx and no bit.

Age restrictions in the CGS are really stupid. They should at least allow for parental consent like REAL jobs allow.

#1 they can just refuse the invitation for cgs finals I guess? is there any prize money involved on this CGS Latin America?

From www.mibr.com.br

"A grande novidade ficará por conta do primeiro contato da equipe com o CS:Source, já que nenhum dos jogadores nunca sequer treinou para este jogo."

I hope CGS reads their comments before they deal with people who want to play 1.6 and not care about the CGS.

<3 Trevor

In the US, CGS takes a long time..you have more franchises, and play a championship against each other...and 2 of the best will be choosen to play the grandfinals.

But what about the rest of the world?
The Team from Brazil will have to wait until december every year to play?

The teams outside US will have to have a cotract? anual payment?
Or they will just play the grandfinals for the prize money?

#1, they will need to play source, yes. And after CGS Grand Finals?
They cannot play any other 1.6 tournament, like shg open, that is iin the beggining of the year? they'll have to just play source everyday with no competition near?

basically CGS will only allow mibr to go to certain source tourneys....
meaning no more 1.6 for them

I love mibr for that last quote. Seriously, it's about time a team decided to screw up CGS monopoly. CGS pretty much owns coL/3D right now. Let's hope the european 1.6 teams dont fall for that. If they decide to pickup a source division I have no problem, but don't use your 1.6 players...

Obviously it also may mean mibr knows something about the future of 1.6 that we dont

This is more for competitive I believe, I doubt either team would move to just Source, and they can play and just refuse the contracts I believe.

I <3 mibr. Basically they are saying; Yes, we will join CGS for this event to add some respectability to your international finals, but you have to compensate us for our trouble, oh and don't think that you'll dictate to us what or where we play.

Some of you people need to learn to read an article in its entirety.

edit: Although granted, Luis Mira also needs to learn to not contradict himself within his own article (referring to the fifth paragraph), and thus confuse the easily confused readers on gotfrag.
