Counter-Strike Source: CGS Playbook Series: LA CompLexity

By: Jack Westerman - Published October 26, 2007 at 11:21 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The first in a six part series - Jack Westerman takes a look at the LA Complexity's tactics for each of the maps used in the CGS regular season 2007.

The first North American season of the Championship Gaming Series came to an end over two months ago, with the Los Angeles Complexity finishing as the second worst team overall. They finished 5th with a 5 – 7 record, and a -33 point difference, narrowly failing to make the playoffs, but nowhere near reaching the World Finals.

Their Counter-Strike: Source team finished the season as the obvious the centerpiece of the franchise. With a 10 – 2 record and a +29 round difference, they proved to be a valuable asset in almost every match. Join us as we take a closer look at Complexity’s tactics over all three maps used throughout the CGS season...

#7 - the way that the cgs is set up, most teams were forced to change their strategies each week since they only were able to practice against the same teams that they eventually ended up playing at one point or another. plus, these demos have been available to everyone for some time now, so it isn't like their strats weren't exposed before this.

It's our turn! There hasn't been one of these on us in forever, so it's no big deal. Anti-stratting/demo watching has and always will be part of the game, this is nothing new. The challenge in cs is not knowing where the enemy is, but executing.. and that can't be shown.

every semi decent euro team already stole all col's tactics anyawy, as the rest of the americans are weak strat-wise, aside from 3d anyway.

#10 has it. Articles like this just prove that any team can run the same strategy, but you need the right people in the right positions, and must know how to adjust when things aren't going well or there are unexpected results, in order to be an elite team. Complexity executes their strats well and uses the individual strengths of its lineup to win rounds.

Good read, this helps with strats but as #10 said, it takes a good team and a hell load of practise to be able to execute these as well as coL do. ^^
