Delayed Short Rush

The delayed short tactic is a very common strategy used by almost every team in some way or another, and is generally very effective. Complexity opt to position three players at the top of middle, one in the lower B tunnels, and another at long A. The player in lower B is able to throw a smoke on top of the large box in middle to block the view of any CT AWPers watching short, as well as grenading short in hopes of doing early damage to any defenders positioned there.

Once the smoke grenade has fully developed in middle, the three players at the top are able to push up catwalk, flashing heavily as they sweep around towards the site. Originally, the player at long only had to prevent the CTs from flanking his teammates, but once they have started to push short, he is able to move into the long connecter and begin to apply some pressure himself.

As Complexity players approach the bombsite, the player at long A pushes out, hoping to catch any CTs playing at the long crossover off guard. The player that started off in lower B remains there as the bomb is planted, with the purpose of cleaning up any CTs rotating through middle.

Fake short, hit B

In this strategy, Complexity send three players into the upper B tunnels, while the other two wait at the top of middle. The middle players take a brief glance at long A to ensure that they aren’t being rushed, before progressing down middle and onto short. In an attempt to convince the CTs that a major rush on A is imminent, Complexity set up the push as if they are fully committing to catwalk, by smoking middle and grenading from the lower tunnels.

Up until this point, as with any good faking tactic, the Counter-Terrorists should ideally notice no difference between this strategy and any previous genuine attacks on short.

Once the two players on short begin their attack and start to rush around to the site, the three players in the upper B tunnels should set off toward B with the bomb. The fake is much more convincing if the players on short stay alive, and kill as many CTs as possible. If they die straight off the bat, there will be no need for the CTs to rotate out of B, which will significantly reduce the chance of entering successfully.

B Split

In this tactic, all of the Complexity players head to the upper B tunnels at the beginning of the round, except Frod, who momentarily AWPs down middle in an attempt to get an early pick. Once in upper B, two players head down the staircase to lower, while the two in upper wait for Frod to catch up with them, as well as giving the lower players a chance to organize themselves.

The players in lower B rush out into CT middle, throwing flashbangs into CT spawn and against the rocks at the back. Simultaneously, the players in upper B push through in to the B bombsite, covering themselves with a barrage of flashbangs and grenades. The players who pushed middle now sweep up towards the B double doors to pinch any remaining CTs defending B.

Short Push

Unlike the ‘Delayed Short Rush’ explained earlier, the ‘Short Push’ is a less fragmented tactic, in which all five Complexity players commit themselves to the catwalk at the start of the round. They may incorporate a short delay at the beginning, but ultimately they will all end up on short, pushing around to the bombsite with flashbangs and grenades to suppress the defenders. One player, in this instance Rambo, hangs back in middle so as to catch rotating Counter-Terrorists.

Once the bomb has been planted, the majority of the Complexity players return to short. From here they are able to watch for flanking opponents as well as defending the bomb from behind the cover of the large wall.

B Split Variation

This strategy is a slight variation on the ‘B Split’ discussed earlier, involving a different setup, but essentially the same outcome. Rather than heading to B through the tunnels, Complexity begins by pushing down middle and into lower B. One player, rather than two, rushes through into CT middle, while the remaining four get ready to strike from the upper tunnels.
