Inferno - Defense

2-3 Setup

Complexity mainly uses a conventional 2-3 setup for the majority of the CT side - there may be small variations from round to round, but in essence it is still the same tactic. Zet and Rambo defend the banana bombsite, while the other three players defend the netted site.

Zet and Rambo vary between playing aggressively and passively. On some rounds, they opt to rush straight down the banana walkway, flashing the CT end heavily as look to make early picks. Alternatively, they may decide to remain on the bombsite, in which case zet will hide behind a box at the back, while Rambo plays near to construction.

On the netted bombsite, Frod watches the CT spawn alleyway with an AWP (POV Screenshot #3) while Storm watches the apartment alley. Occasionally, Storm will play more aggressively and push up to the lower apartment staircase, waiting for a pick there. Finally, Warden sits near the platform at the back on the site, watching the upper apartment exit onto balcony.

2-3 Alternate

This illustrates some of the different positions that Complexity use in the previously mentioned 2-3 setup. As you can see, zet is now sat at the back of the banana bombsite, while Rambo waits behind the generator. From here, they are able to hit any pushing terrorists fairly easily, while making themselves a difficult target for attackers.

In addition, Warden has also changed position slightly, playing down in the pit instead of the platform, but nevertheless keeps a close eye on the balcony. Storm is playing more aggressively than usual, having pushed right up into the boiler room to lie in wait. Frod is still holding CT alleyway, but with an M4 as opposed to an AWP.

Apartment Push

The aggressive apartment push is simply another variation of the original 2-3 setup. At the start of the round, Warden immediately climbs into the upper apartments and begins to push through to the terrorist side. If he reports that there are no terrorists waiting outside the apartments, Frod begins to rotate toward the banana bombsite early (POV #3), in the hope of catching the opponents on their rush, supporting the players defending the site.

Rotating to Banana

Once the call is made that the majority of terrorists are rushing banana, Complexity begins to rotate. The players on the netted bombsite move quickly through CT spawn toward the construction site, attacking their opponents head on. Meanwhile, Storm rotates through middle, in order to both flank his opponents and check that the terrorists aren’t faking to netted. Throwing flashbangs from behind, as Storm can be seen doing behind the overview map, is especially effective.

Aggressive Middle

This is Complexity’s only real aggressive CT tactic for Inferno. Once again, zet has pushed out on to the banana walkway and is playing by the car, while Rambo waits back on the bombsite. The three players defending the netted bombsite have decided to play more assertively, by rushing straight down middle at the start of the round.

Frod has pushed right down to the lamp post next to the underground, and is looking into the terrorist alleyways. Storm is playing at the top of middle, also looking down toward the T alleys, attempting to cover Frod. Finally, Warden has pushed through lower apartment on to the staircase, preventing the terrorists from flanking behind them.
