Counter-Strike Source: Reason Gaming announces new 5th

By: Jack Westerman - Published November 17, 2007 at 6:54 PM EST - Writer Archive
Reason Gaming has finalized its Counter-Strike: Source roster, dropping Richard ‘Ritch’ Gibbs and picking up Henrik "FeTiSh" Christensen.
In the week leading up to i32, Richard ‘Ritch’ Gibbs began to encounter problems with his PC, and was unwilling to use a loan PC at the event. Consequently, he was unable to participate in the tournament with Reason, which presented them with the challenge of finding a new 5th player at very short notice. At the time, there was a great deal of speculation as to whether or not Ritch had been released from his contract as a result of the issue, though Reason management publicly assured that he was still a member of the team.

A few days prior to the tournament, Henrik "FeTiSh" Christensen was able to step in, and helped to guide Reason to a second place finish at i32, defeating Fnatic and the London MiNT to enter the grand final from the upper bracket. They eventually lost to the MiNT over two maps, but claimed $4400 for their efforts – an undoubtedly strong finish considering that they were playing with a replacement fifth.

Now, one week after i32, Reason Gaming have announced that they have taken on Henrik "FeTiSh" Christensen as their fifth contracted player. In a press release over at Reason’s website, general manager Ben 'Dallow' Dalloway expressed his satisfaction with the pickup:

"Henrik was an instant success with the rest of the team and his strategic calling and in-game skills make a fantastic addition to the team, complimenting the styles of our other players. The players and management were extremely impressed with Henrik's attitude both inside and outside of the game."

In addition, Fetish thanked the management in a statement of his own:

"I am pleased to be announced as the final member on the Reason.css roster, we had a good and successful time at i32, and I am really pleased with our performance … I am now looking forward to working together with Ben Dalloway and Adam aka Badger. I'd like to thank Reason for giving me this opportunity and Ben for his hospitality before and after i32, that was pure fun <3 !"

However, the pickup also means that there is no longer a place for Ritch in the starting line-up, and he has been released from contract to “pursue his other gaming interests”.

Reason Gaming’s Counter-Strike: Source line-up is now as follows:

Norway Simen "warclown" Aas Henriksen
Denmark Henrik "FeTiSh" Christensen
United Kingdom George "hudzG" Hoskins
Denmark Kasper "c0bain" Magnussen
Denmark Jim "jIMMy" Thorsen

yeah, i don't even know who he is and i instantly thought that it was mad sketchy for him to be skipping out on an event because "he was having computer problems" and "refused to use a standin comp." At any decent event it won't be BYOC, so I reallly fail to see how Ritch could ever be considered to be legit.
