The player spotlight is shining down under! Azad 'topguN' Orami of the Sydney Underground gives us his thoughts on the CGS Finals... and the women of Los Angeles! ![]() Alias: topguN Age: 19 Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Franchise: Sydney Underground Hey topguN, please tell us a little about yourself, and your gaming history. Well my names Azad, but the girls can call me anytime. I’ve lived in Sydney, Australia for 16 years out of my 19 year old life. I'm a bit of a clown most the time, but I can be pretty fun sometimes, lol. I've always thought talking about myself was lame, so it’s hard to sit here and say how cool I am... Haha just jokes. I've been playing computer games since I was about 9 years old. Started off on QuakeWorld, moved my way through AQ2 and all sorts of other games like Age of Empires, which I was pretty good at as well. But First Person Shooters was where my heart was at. I been playing CS for about 5 years and CS:S for almost 2 years. I've always considered myself one of the best players in Australia, in ALL the games I ever played... that might explain why I ended up getting TOPGUN tattooed on my arm... haha! When did you arrive in Los Angeles and what do you think of it? What have you been doing since you arrived? I've been in L.A for almost 10 days so far. Haven’t done much really, but what I can say is that the nightlife Sucks. Especially the 21+ rule for drinking, not that it's stopped me anyway… or aren’t I allowed to say that? :P lol Other then that mate it's a beautiful city. I didn't think it'd be so mountainous. We got an awesome view of some of the mountains from our room, and I love the girls too, they're gorgeous. So if any American girl ends up reading this, find me on MySpace! haha =P What do your family and friends think about you being in LA? Are they supportive of your newfound professional gaming career? They absolutely love it, all my girls at home miss me though, poor things... haha. Nah seriously though my family is real supportive of it all, and can't stop bragging to all my relatives back at home in Kurdistan, and all over the world, to how and why me and my brother are travelling to these great nations. My friends just think it's cool, because something like this was all just a dream not long ago, and here I am today :-D in LA ! oOo see the rhyme there? lol How have you been preparing for the CGS World Finals? Have you been working particularly hard, or just training as usual? Do many teams in Australia practise the CGS ruleset? During the lead up to the tournament the 5 of us had been practicing as much as we could together as a team. Thankfully the Australian Source community are very supportive of us and our achievements, so a lot of the top teams that wouldn't normally play the CGS ruleset, DID use the CGS ruleset, just for us to get as much good practice in as possible, so a big thanks to all the guys back in Australia. Much appreciated! The US teams in Region 1 had a full season of matches leading up to the Finals, an opportunity than other regions have not had. Do you think this will give them an advantage over the other competing franchises in the Finals? I definitely believe it gives them a slight advantage over the other teams in the competition, but I don't think it's enough to give them the edge over any team. It just means they can't make any excuses when we beat them ;) haha! Page:
