Counter-Strike Source: CGS Finals Player Spotlight: topguN

You are scheduled to play the Stockholm Magnetik in the first round. Do you know anything about the team, or had chance to practice with them? What are your thoughts on the fixture?

I’ve heard that Stockholm are a very strong team all together. Strong in all of their games, but not unbeatable. I know they have strong DOA4 players, both male and female, and their FIFA player is just as dominant. I don't know much about their PGR3 drivers, I highly doubt they will match the Aussie drivers though. Their CS:S team I know almost nothing about, and I like it this way. I don't want to go into the match, over, or under-estimating any opposition. But with a GM like HeatoN, I’m sure they are a strong side. Can't wait to take them on.

The Underground CS:S team hard at work
How do you expect the Sydney Underground to perform in the World Finals? In your opinion, which teams have a good chance of taking the title?

The only few teams I don’t know much about, are the American teams. Other than that, from what I’ve seen so far, I honestly believe that every side in this competition has the ability to take the title. I honestly know that if myself, and the rest of the Sydney Underground team can perform when it matters the most, we've got an awesome chance to take out the title.

What are your hopes for the CGS? Does it really have the potential to turn gaming into a true professional sport? What kind of impact has it had on the Australian competitive gaming scene?

Mate, I’m in LA, kicking back in some sweet apartments in Marina Del Rey, and have not spent 1 cent on travel or accommodation. I believe it already is a true professional sport. To the outside world though, I know that the CGS will take it up there to the top. They've done a great job so far, and it's only going to get bigger, its the new COOL thing - especially if I’m involved in it :P haha!

Australia's gaming scene has always been isolated from the rest of the world due to geographical reasons, the CGS has conquered this issue for the Aussies. I can honestly say that the CS:S scene in Australia has stepped up a few calibres, all trying to pursue their dreams of becoming a Pro-Gamer.

If you win the Finals, what will you do with your share of the money?

When* I win then finals you mean… might wanna fix that up :P! haha jokes. I don't know mate, I can honestly say their will be a lot of alcohol in my room, hopefully a few good looking girls, but that’s just high hopes haha! But I’d probably go home and give it to my father, help out with the family, things like that. He has been real supportive of this whole journey, and what better way to thank him with then some cold hard cash!

Thanks for the interview and good luck in the finals! Is there anything that you would like to add?

Anytime, anytime! I’ll be around for a while so you’d better get used to hearing about me ;) I just wanna show some love to all the players from Sydney Underground, especially to Ben, our GM.. ;) He gets the special kind of loving! haha!

A big thanks to the Australian Source community, they've been real supportive and I'd like to thank yous all!

And a MAJOR, and I mean MAJOR SHOUTOUT TO MY MAIN MAN BACK AT HOME - MICKOS! I LOVE YOU!
