PARSIPPANY, N.J. � December 12, 2007 � PNY Technologies� teamed up with E-Sports Services and E-Sports Entertainment (ESEA) to kick off its inaugural, professional grade XLR8 gaming tournament, featuring Counter-Strike: Source. The tournament is online and free, and gamers can register online at http://www.xlr8gaming.net. The new PNY XLR8 Gaming portal offers premium servers, new tournament formats, updated product and gaming news, exclusive product offers and opportunities for gamers to win prizes.

Under the XLR8 Gaming Series format, teams will need to win as many offensive rounds as they can in 10 minutes. This fast, rapid-paced mode of play mirrors the performance of XLR8 Gaming products and offers exciting game play for Counter-strike: Source players similar to the Charges Only format played long ago in the early days of CS. Attacking (T sided) rounds only count towards a team's score and each team will play only one offensive half per match. The team with the most offensive (T sided) victories after two halves wins. The XLR8 Gaming Series schedule and registration:

I think you guys will like it. I played quite a few CO matches way back when I was a CS player and actually learned quite a bit from playing this style. It was also fun. :)

wow... now i know there are complaints for everything.
1) tournament is free
2) promotes the cs:s community
3) different, fun tourney format
4) you can win about $5k of hardware

and people still complain... incredible

Thanks for pointing out what's going on here. Free tournament for fun. Yea it's different...but that's the point!

Anyways, hope you guys like the site we've created...we are pretty impressed with ourselves :-)

If not, let us know...the site was created for the entire gaming community so we are definitely looking for feedback on how to make it better.

P.S. Note when the tournaments end and that no video cards are specified by name...just have faith...we are working on a few fronts here to make an awesome splash with our inaugural tournament...that's all I'm gunna say about that...

Sounds entertaining! All facets from the great prizes, $0 entry fee, fun rules set, ESEA Anti-Cheat to management, so there's no problems for the teams, have all been well thought out just for gamers. Registration on the website was simple and everything was made clear. I don't see how you can nit pick anything with this PNY tournament when you're getting everything for nothing.

Nothing in life is free, but I guess PNY thought otherwise.

Map rotations will be up tonight. As will brackets shortly thereafter.

The tournament is going to fill at 32 teams, its simply a matter of who fills the last spots at this point!

Remember that if your team cannot compete this week and is on the Active List for Week 1, please open a support ticket and ask to be moved down to the waiting list immediately. Teams that are no-shows in week 1 will not be permitted to compete in future weeks of the XLR8 Gaming Series.

Lots of teams are eager to participate. Please be respectful.
