Counter-Strike Source: HudzG leaves Reason Gaming

By: Jack Westerman - Published December 19, 2007 at 2:42 PM EST - Writer Archive
Reason Gaming has announced that George "HudzG" Hoskins will be leaving their Counter-Strike: Source team.
Hoskins, who has been a part of Reason’s CS:S team for 4 months, has expressed a wish to participate in the Championship Gaming Series UK Draft next year, and has left the organization to search for a team that shares his goal. Rather than press Hoskins to fulfill his contract, the Reason management have decided to release him immediately, so that he is free to find a new team as quickly as possible.

The announcement comes just one month after Multiplay’s i32 event in Newbury, UK, where Reason Gaming finished second, earning themselves €3000. They defeated both Fnatic and the London Mint on their way to winning the upper bracket, but were unable to suppress the Mint for a second time in the Grand Final, narrowly losing out on both maps.

The official statement released on Reason’s website reads as follows:

"Today we are sad to announce that we have released George "hudzG" Hoskins from the Reason.CSS squad so that he can follow his dreams and attend the Championship Gaming Series UK Draft in 2008.

George has been an integral part of the team since he joined with the other guys back in August. He put his heart and soul into the team and he will be missed. We decided that rather than holding onto him and forcing him to fulfil his contract the more amicable decision would be to release him from all contractual oblgations so that he is free to find a new team and start practicing for the CGS.

On behalf of the management we would like to wish George the best in his gaming future, and we can highly recommend him to any other team out there who are searching for success."

In addition, Hoskins released a statement of his own, explaining that he was parting on good terms:

"4 months ago, my journey started with Reason. Playing with some of the best European players has been a pleasure and I wish I could continue, but a big part of me knows my dreams lie within the CGS. My time in Reason will always be with me, until the very day I stop gaming. Reason is the definition of friendship and what a organization should be like, they treated me as a family member rather than a team member.

We part on great terms and they have wished me all the best in my journey to achieving my dreams and I wish them all the best and I will be cheering them on for as long as they play. As for the future I do not know what lies in front of me, all I know is I have a goal and a dream and I hope one day I can look back on this experience and know that I got there."

UPDATE: Reason Gaming have now announced that Kasper "c0bain" Magnussen will also be leaving the team, and that Christofer "Helblinde" Nilsson and Daniel "giftig" Ivarsson will be starting trials as potential replacement players.

Reason released the following statement regarding Magnussen’s departure:

"Kasper is a great player and a great friend of the CSS team and management. The reason for his removal is due to personality clashes between Kasper and other members of the team. We would like to say thanks to Kasper for his time spent in Reason-Gaming, he was our most consistent player on Lan performing solidly at both SLAP LIVE #13 and i32.

[The two new players] Chris and Dan have played together for 4 years in top Swedish teams such as EYEBALLERS and Faxzup. They bring a wealth of experience to the team, and we now hope we can recapture our i32 form with the two new arrivals."

The Counter-Strike: Source team leader, Simen "warclown" Aas Henriksen, had this to say:

"Today we release yet another player. This time we are letting c0bain go. Ever since i-series #32 we've been having some difficulties in the team, and we've considered replacing c0bain for a while now - because there have been some problems getting along online. I will not lie to any of you; this is pretty negative for the team. After beating some of the worlds finest source teams without any practice on i32, we showed everyone what our team was capable of. And now, more than one month later - we have to replace two key players.

It will affect the team, no doubt about it. But this wont necessarily be a bad thing. This will get the motivation back up and running, and since it is a couple of months until the next event we see no problem in being back in business. We still have the tactical master Henrik which will make us work hard on our teamplay. I have all reasons to believe that we will earn back the trust from our fans and supporters - and keep climbing the European top10."

Good luck in your quest to get drafted into the CGS, but I'm surprised the team doesn't just go with him anyway. Ahh wellz, gl!

#7 it wont happen because MiNT aren't stupid enough to go chopping changing their roster after one bad game. They value stability.

are cotch still looking for a 5th? atm i don't really see any other UK teams that will give him the chance he deserves (that haven't got a full roster) other than that

I think that Beta and Jon0o will be removed from the London.MiNT Roster, and they'll bring in ritch and hudzG.

Yes, they can have their contracts 'terminated' since it's the end of the Season.

#10 Quite simple. jiMMy isnt 18 yet, infact he is only 16 years old. Futhermore I personally hate CGS as a league and those rules that they are using..

The vid's where heaton is told how to cheer up his team makes me wanna puke. Go watch the ESWC finals 2007 video, now thats esport :D!
