The Guardians organization, GotFrag has learned, has picked up the first-place electronic Gaming evolution as its new Counter-Strike: Source team.
Team Guardians has acquired electronic Gaming evolution, otherwise known as eGe, as its new Counter-Strike: Source team. eGe has amassed an impressive 6-1 record in CEVO Professional CS:Source Season 5 thus far, with a best in the league CEVO CPI of 0.5854. According to the Guardians official IRC channel, their new CSS lineup is going to be attending the latest CGS Combine in Austin, TX, as well as finishing off this CEVO season.

When asked about the move, team player Justin "heatwave" McKay said, "eGe was just a name. The Guardians offered financial support, and so when they offered it to us, we decided not to pass on it."

The Guardians channel also states that Jimmy "foogz" Koller will be in the new lineup. Koller has played for United 5, and most recently has played as a member of the Carolina Core. He will, for the immediate future, be taking the place of Keven "AZK" Lariviere, who for age reasons, cannot compete in the CGS Combine taking place next month.

Here is the official press release from The Guardians:

Team Guardians is pleased to announce the addition of six remarkable players – Philippe Olivier "PEX" Crepin, Jimmy "foogs" Koller, Benedict "STRuK" Kaminski, Michael "deciple" Baker, Justin "heatwave" Mckay, and Keven "AZK" Lariviere. Team Guardians first event will be the 2008 CGS North American Combine to be held March 7-9 at South by Southwest ScreenBurn Arcade in Austin, Texas. We’re confident these players will rejuvenate the team and be highly successful in the future.

About Team Guardians:

Team Guardians is a multi-gaming team formed by Angel Diaz in memory of his son Angel "Eastbeast" Diaz, a dedicated online gamer that passed away at the age of 15 on January 27th 2007 due to an accident while out with friends. Angel Jr's intense passion in life to become a pro gamer convinced his father that supporting eSports would be the most appropriate way to honor the loss of his son. A foundation was formed on Angel's behalf. The proceeds from donations, combined with private sponsorship from companies have helped created Team Guardians. Please join us on March 1st 2008 for our website release at www.teamguadians.net!
