By: Marc Turner - Published February 20, 2008 at 8:31 PM EST - Writer Archive
The final match night of the regular season is upon us and the Optx go up against 1st place Guardians in a barn burner. See who our experts say will come out on top in CEVO Pro CS:Source Season 5 Week 7.

The last night of matches for CEVO Pro Season 5 regular season is upon us and GotFrag's predictors give one more look into the future before the playoffs. Midway, jESUIT, Singlecoil, Alchemist and guest Garret "Grt" Bambrough give you the inside scoop one more time.

Bambrough is a veteran Counter Strike player with the likes of GB and EG and is presently a player for the CGS Season 1 World Champion Chicago Chimera.

GotFrag's all new prediction series delivers what readers want; predictions, short and sweet, by the people that know the game better than anyone. eSports personalities, top players and senior GotFrag staff only! Each predictor has one sentence to predict an outcome and why.

Nexus Gaming vs. 3D.NY

The new name and new lineup will not be enough to save this season for the former TLR. Nexus is in third to last place in the CEVO standings with a 3-9 record. Nexus suffered big losses in Week 6 to the Core 10-3 and Venom 10-2. 3D has also had a rough season of CEVO Pro as they currently reside in 9th place in the standings with a 5-7 record. 3D has turned things around in the second half of the season with 4 straight wins for a combined 40-6 outscoring of opponents. 3D took down XFX 10-1 and x3o 10-2 in Week 6.

A name change doesnt make you a different team .. At least you're not as bad as the Furia.

If 3D would have started this run just a couple of matches earlier in the season...
Just the gift 3D needed.

Ok 3D I'd admit you are starting to play well. Still keep a very wary eye on you but a win here should be possible.
3D has been playing alot better lately and seem to have ended there horrible start to the season. Nexus have good awps and on a map like this they can use that very well to there advantage but 3D's momentum should take this.

Eximius Sports vs. Mexico City Furia

Eximius' status was raised a bit this week with the announcement of Erik "da bears" Stromberg as a starting player. However Stromberg will not be enough to save this season for Eximius as they are currently in 10th place with a 4-7 record. Eximius lost their Week 6:1 match 10-4 to the Guardians and their 6:1 match is rescheduled for tonight. Mexico City has been the whipping boys of CEVO this season as they hold down last place and have yet to win a match all season. Week 6 was extremely tough for Furia as they go down to 3D 10-2 and Complexity 10-5.

Take a nap ... Eximius could win this 3v5
Eximius should have no problem here, even with the "new" guy.
How does a professional team go 0 and 11? Bye wins don’t count.
Eximius does need the help of a Bear to beat the boys from down South.
Ping > all, Mexico wont win once vs an actual team with there pings at all. Look for da bears to fist people in his debut.

Guardians vs. San Francisco Optx

The Guardians could be considered for surprise of the season as they continue to ride the first place spot going into the playoffs. The Guardians are at 11-1 on the season with wins over Eximius and Pandemic, both matches 10-4. The Optx have had one of their best seasons of online play ever as they are currently in 4th place with 8-3 record. Although the team seemed a bit stronger in the first half of the season, Optx were able to take coL in an overtime win in Week 5 only to be run over by the Venom 10-1 in Week 6.

I'm a believer! Guardians win ... here's to good results at the combine.
The Optx would like to finish off the season as heroes and take down the online beast that is the Guardians. That desire will fuel a win here.
I think Guardians will put the time into winning this odd map.

Didn't we use to call the old school zEx team online too until they owned at CPL/ESWC?Ok Kat here's all the incentive your boys need, Guardians will win!
Im going to have to go with the team that has better awpers OVERALL, Moe will have to handle business for Optx to win, but Guardians has 3 solid awpers and on contra that helps there cause

Devastation vs. compLexity LA

Devastation comes into the last night of regular season play in eighth place with a 7-5 record. Devastation lost its last two matches, one to x3o 10-2 in Week 5:2 and another to the Core 10-6 in Week 6:2. Complexity has had a somewhat un-complexity season as they come into to the last week of regular play with an 8-4 record. coL picked up the pace in Week 6 with wins over Pandemic 10-8 and Furia 10-5.

Even if coL was half dead they'd win this.
Montaner gets one last opportunity to run up his regular season stats.
This map has 2000 ft of clear lanes for Frod to snipe in. I would bring extra smoke.
It's playoff time coL, time to turn it on like the Lakers of old.
I really do hate predicting against my friends in Devastation, they could potentially make it close but I see it being bad, especially with the Micheal Jordan of cs playing

Team XFX vs. Carolina Core

XFX has had a dissapointing season in their CEVO Pro debut, coming into this week in next to last place with a 2-10 record with their only real win coming over Furia. XFX lost their last two matches for a combined 4-20 point spread in a 10-1 loss to 3D in Week 5:2 and a 10-3 loss to x3o for Week 6:1. The Core come into Week 7 in a rock solid 2nd place and a 10-2 record. Carolina won both matches in Week 6, 10-3 over Nexus/TLR and 10-6 over Devastation.

No way the Core loses ... XFX is actually doing their sponsor harm imo.
The Core have to be feeling good about this match, the playoffs and this year in general.
I just bought a new video card. It better perform better than team XFX. I also got a Quad Core so I think we know what that means.

Dolven has developed a solid Source team after initial complaints about going with "his boys" at the draft, should continue their success here.
XFX is having it roughhhhh this season. The cpl champs have been crashing and burning and that will continue this match after the boys from Core put a ol fashioned swift kick in the #!@ of XFX
