Counter-Strike Source: The eXperience 2008 Event Preview

By: Jack Westerman - Published July 23, 2008 at 6:20 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The Experience 2008 begins tomorrow in Roskilde, Denmark, and promises to be one of the most competitive European CS: Source events of the year.
The eXperience 2008 begins tomorrow, July 24th, at 09:00 CET in Roskilde, Denmark. Roskilde is a city with a long history of hosting famous events, a reputation that 'The eXperience' hopes to maintain. Some of Europe's finest Counter-Strike: Source teams will be out in full force, determined to claim some of the €12,500 prize money for themselves.

The prize purse has increased from last years total of €8,000, but the unusual payout system has remained unchanged. Teams win small slices of the prize pot as they progress through the elimination stage of the tournament rather than receiving set amounts based on final standings. The prize breakdown is as follows:

1st Place - €3,750
2nd Place - €1,250
LB Final Winner - €350
LB Final Loser - €750

Upper Bracket 1 - €200
Upper Bracket 2 - €400
Upper Bracket 3 - €800
Upper Bracket 4 - €1,600

For example, the winning team will receive a guaranteed prize of €3,750, but they can earn more by winning as many upper bracket games as possible on their way to the final. The longer teams remain in the upper bracket, the more money they make, as each match won earns them a small cut of the prize pot.

The groups were randomly drawn today at 9:30pm CET and are as follows:
