Counter-Strike Source: Optx vs Salvo in CGS Grand Final

The CGS 2008 season ends tonight with San Francisco facing Birmingham.
Los Angeles, California (GotFrag) - The second season of the CGS comes to an exciting conclusion tonight as Kat Hunter's San Francisco Optx take on the pride of the brits in the Birmingham Salvo. The two teams will battle for the championship trophy and the grand prize of $500,000.

The Optx came into the playoffs as the wildcard team. Optx beat New York 3D and the London Mint in the wildcard process, and now have wreaked havoc on the number 2 Region 1 team, Dallas Venom and the Berlin Allianz to reach the World Championships.

The Birmingham Salvo defeated the Mexico City Furia in the first round of playoffs 22-19. Very few fans gave Salvo a chance of winning against the likes of the Carolina Core in the next round. In a heart breaker for Carolina and what most would consider an upset win for Birmingham, the Salvo took down the Region 1 2008 champions in a dramatic over time finish and a one point win of 22-21.

Now the San Francisco Optx face off against the Birmingham Salvo in the 2008 CGS World Grand Final and GotFrag is on location to bring you live scores, galleries and more.

The matches will be televised on DirectTV's channel 101. For more information on the CGS World Championship, go to www.thecgs.com
