CEVO has confirmed that Sam "devour" Chamma and Yazan "clowN" Ammari have been banned from the league for cheating. The pair were banned from an incident in the CEVO Alienware Winter Frag Fest in which the leagues anti-cheat client, CMN detected cheats.

Chamma and Ammari have played for the team Optx since the demise of the CGS. Chamma is widely known for his incredible rookie performance with the former league under the Carolina Core franchise. Ammari is a veteran CSS player who became known as a member of the well known PowersGaming lineup that went on to become the San Francisco Optx.

Ammari declined to comment any further but did make a statement on the matter at complexitygaming.com. Ammari stated, "I would like to come clear about everything, YES, Devour and I did cheat simple as that." He went on to explain the duo were cheating in retaliation for what they believed to be cheating by the opposing team.

Optx were facing KeyboardSmashers in the finals of the CEVO Alienware Winter Frag Fest when Ammari specifically claims Andrew "Glockateer" Cook was suspicious and led the two to believe the team was cheating in the 13-11 loss to KBS. Ammari states, "I was basically fighting fire with fire, I know they were cheating and they know they were cheating, that�s the bottom line." The pair have been banned from CEVO for 12 months.

example:

suave (had to actually admit cheats before getting banned)
KBS (yet to be caught)
xploD (blatant as F*CK and yet to be caught)

#34 if you read on the complexity site, you will see they cheated in the first match, but not in the second.

#59 in xploD's case, the team has a.) Timmy who was blatant when he was on wookie and b.) a CEVO admin on the team so... CEVO's policy of not reviewing demos is absurd, however. If you even watch xploD for 5 seconds you will realize he walls.

For anyone that thinks they cheated in pro-am or in prior alienware matches, think again. I don't know how well Cmn bans people in 1.6, but every source player that actually plays in cevo knows its a huge pile of crap when it comes to finding hackers. Dvr and clown were using the most basic, easy to detect cheats. Pretty obvious it was their first time considering the fact that I have only seen maybe 3 players ever banned for hacks in all the seasons of css in cevo

This has nothing to do with source dieing or being bad or whatever...

There were 5 brand new computers on the line and it was a professional team vs. a bad team that got good overnight... I don't blame them for doing what they did, why show up and let people cheat you out of what should be yours?

In life people will cheat you out of a dollar so when you are talking about $3K to $5K computers, then yes 5H!t happens. I can not remember an online tourney that did not have some type of cheating/ hacking question in it.

It is sad to see players who are tenured in the community and looked up to do things like this. it just shows the maturity level of the gamers.

Also, this has nothing to do with the Source community. It just so happens it they were playing Source as the game. It happens in 1.6, COD, etc...

#76 this is more about the fact that CEVO's AC policies are garbage, if you really want to know. It's less about the computers and more about making a statement. I'm not condoning the actions, I found them pretty silly, but that's just how it goes.

And I havent taken the time to read ALL of the posts on this topic but basically all the 1.6 players should stop flaming source for having cheaters in its community because I dont think you understand just how many people cheat in 1.6 because its so easy to, seeing as how its never updated...o wait its 10 years old that's why.

And id assume that if two people on one team cheated to "fight fire with fire", it wasn't only those two who were cheating.

In my opinion, it was wrong. No gray area here. If it was true what they claim, I can understand the frustration. That does not by any means condone cheating in retaliation. Cheating is cheating. They made a mistake, maybe some good will come of it but I think they hurt their cause more than helped. I think they would have been much better served by appealing in a mature way to CEVO and the community.

What seems to be the issue at stake here is they felt that making a bold statement by cheating would bring it into the light. For long enough has CEVO let cheaters glance by if they pass their POS client. Do I condone cheating? No. Do I condone clowN and devour making this statement? Hell FSCKING yes.

To all of the absolute idiot 1.6 players who failed to read before posting their comments, please step aside and proceed to maul your own head with your keyboard until neither are recognizable.

my question is this also. Was there no official or anyone overlooking both teams at their pcs till game started or as it went on. I understand the frustration but should of took into account how you made an organization look or the rest of your team who are legit players. Black clouds over you for the win.

I have to have some respect for the KBS squad if for nothing else, seemingly keeping their mouths shut and out of the drama of all this. Even though they aren't household names (save GRT), as a team they have been playing together for probably close to 2 years at the top levels of CEVO and CAL; and also practice their asses off. It's not impossible they legitimately beat CEVO-P teams and the OPTX cheaters admittedly acted out of frustration to the fact they were losing to them, whether the Keyboard Smashers were cheating or not.

I just like to say that i played optx in the winterfragfest with my team PRIDE, we lost 13-8 second match of the tournament. Funny reading this stuff, simply put the bottom line is clown your bad, optx is bad, source is dead and glockateer is terrible i dont know why people would say he cheats cuz hes a canadian child thats about 100lbs at 5'6. I know cuz ive played with Glockateer before on another team in CAL-main. The fact that KBS is even in CEVO P source? THAT shows how bad the game competition is. Good Game pz. btw i aced optx in that match =P PZ! HAHAH
