Gaim 2.0 has finally be released with a name change, gaim is now know as Pidgin. Pidgin is a Multiple protocol instant messanger, meaning you can log into acccounts from several different instant messanger services at once and use them all from Pidgin. Pidgin supports 15 protocols including common ones like AIM, MSN, Yahoo and Google talk, with plugins for several more.
Pidgin 2.0 features many improvments
Features
-New icon set and visual appearnce
-Create aliases for buddies (example: "hotshot123" can be changed to "Ryan")
-Grouping multiple buddies into a single "contact" (for when one friend has multiple accounts, or just on different messangers
-Spell checking
-Improvments for many protocols, MSN works and much improved file transfer
General features
-Wide range of plugins to support anything from alternative protocols to encrypted chatting
-Tabbed chat window
-Scripts that can be executed when a contact status changes (If you need to talk to someone and they are offline, you can set it to IM when they come back on)
-Supported on multiple operating systems |
