So I decided to bring out my really old iPod today (one of the original kind with the 4 buttons over the wheel). I installed the latest version of software and iTunes and went to upload songs to the iPod. However, whenever I go to upload the song, my iTunes and iPod freezes and the song does not transfer. Any ideas on what to do? PLZ HELP ME!
I'd rather not spend more money getting another one :\
i've tried it with almost all the songs... I just go down the line and it happens with all of them. also when i restore it, I can put some songs on it, but then it returns back to the problem at hand
when i connect my ipod to my computer it automatically opens up iTunes like it's supposed to. but sometimes it wont open it and my computer says it has a problem detecting the 'new' usb device that ive been using for months now. my ipod still charges which is a good thing but it wont like connect to itunes or whatever does this happen to anyone else
I've never scrimmed DoD but if you offer me a spot on your team, I guarantee I'll make you look pro!
1) there was a recall on original ipods that might cover yours a few years ago, look into it 2) the apple stores know that ipods are problematic and typically fairly willing to give you a new one if yours is broken, but i dont know if you need to be covered by the warranty and i doubt you are right now 3) depending on how slow the computer/ipod is, try leaving it out over night and seeing if its just freezing as it tries to handle everything
i never knew that ur iPod starts freaking out and making noises when its 12 on a new day, i was sleeping one day and my iPod was right next to my bed, it started freaking out and i sware i thought itd been possesed or something.
new iPod for christmas - $175 dollars (idk the real price) all your cd's throughout life - $135.99
being scared of your iPod because it makes strange noises...- priceless
there are some things money can't buy. for everything else, you can illegally download

I had a similar problem with my iPod 4th Gen. The iPod would freeze when transferring song and then crash my pc. Later found out that you should not use the newest firmware for the iPod, only use what comes on the iPod CD. But you are allowed to download the newest version of iTunes without a problem.
You should do what I said above but if that still does not unfreeze the iPod i suggest you listen to the iPod and hear if the iPod is spinning currectly. Mine was making a loop of I had to hit the back until it corrected itself, considering it is a hard drive don't worry about doing this, some people throw it against a padded carpet and it fixes the problem.
#36, an ipod is 300, and im on my second simply because i had messed up the headphone jack on the one audio is talking about. had it for 2 years without a problem and got a video on memorial day weekend. love it
Apollo, they only give you support that isnt extremely basic if you are still under their warranty, which im sure audio probably isnt. ok, i had the same problem, even after i reformated some songs froze and skipped to the next song etc. find an apple store (the only one i know of is in tysons corner in north va), even if you are not covered under warranty they'll either fix it, or give you a new one for free (if they determine the damage isnt your fault, they're pretty nice about it).
iPod problem :\

you have to hold down menu + something else, menu + play restarts it, but i forgot how to reset it. it worked for me on one of the older models.

on another side note, ipod's are a bitch to change the batteries in.

Hope that helps.
Mine would let me play songs on the ipod and stuff, but showed it locked in itunes, reformatted it, problem sloved.
And have over 50...
hope this helps.
