I've been lacking internet for nearly two weeks now, so I'd like to explain things from my perspective. I don't expect any real maturity to result from this, but it is necessary that I get a word in.
I made my team months ago, and everyone who joined it knew it was to be a LAN team. Pantera was the first to drop. Unfortunately I can't say it was unexpected, but it still sucked. Next Kyran dropped. I've known Kyran for years, and his reason to not attend is pretty air-tight to anyone who knows him. I wish I could tell you his reason, but I can't. He's the only one on my team I will defend for not attending. Obviously the next was Loki, whose uncle (not his grandma, and I don't know how that started) died in an accident. Then Alan has been pretty unsure all along, and there never seemed to be much hope there as he is short on funds. It was a bit of a blow to see 4 guys who promised an attendance to drop. Am I naive? Probably. But that's how the cards fell, sorry. One person is not responsible for me not attending, but rather four.
After all of this, I found out stealth, Compton, Sik, and Spoon are not going. These 4 people are literally in my top 5 for who I wanted to hang out with most. So the whole "go to have fun!" thing really doesn't apply so much when the people you want to have fun with can't attend. Kyran would be in the top 5, too, and we already covered his issue. So going to hang out and chill when the 5 people you wanted to see most aren't even going to be there just seems like a waste.
Sorry, but the money, vacation days off work, and effort just isn't worth it at this point. My intention was to go to KY, place top 5 and do semi-decent (never intended or planned on being top 3), and hang out with the people I talk to online. Considering most of the people I am closest to online aren't going to go, I just don't see much of a point anymore.
This doesn't excuse anything. I realize what I'm doing is pretty harsh to specific people. I'm most sorry to Jeff, riveroyster, rNg, and Chrstn more than anyone. I'm also sorry to you, Christian Tweedy, but don't forget that I offered you a FREE ride to Indiana so you could drive with Dean. This doesn't fix everything, but it was a solution to your problem, and you've been overlooking it in all the posts you make about me.
Anyways, like I said, I'm most sorry to those people. I truly don't expect them to forgive me or be nice to me after this, but some form of an explanation and apology was in order. Jeff if you want to talk to me I'd be willing to throw you some money to help out if you'd like. It's the least I can do. Just GotFrag PM me, as my computer is at my friend's house and I don't know how often I'll be on it. And Tony I won't ask for the prepay money back, either.
The hotel guys should be fine - we had 10, you'd be losing 2 rooms with me, picking up one with DA, and then get TAP to be a part of it, too.
Like I said, I imagine a lot of flames will come from this, and that's fine. I saw it coming. Have fun in KY.
I can't believe some of you people think I expected to win? I'm reading over these threads trying to play catch-up and a lot of you think I'm dodging because I just NOW realized I wasn't going to win?
Ken - I wanted to do well. I still wanted a team I could work with and have fun with. Not a team that'd place in the top 5, even, just a team I could play good games with.
That, and the whole thing about the people I wanted to see most not attending.
I haven't over looked it whatsoever, after you told me you weren't going I returned back my ticket into credit which luckily I can still use to get a cheaper flight into Louisville. What else was I supposed to do just keep a plane ticket to Michigan lying around for the fun of it? I understand that you were trying to help and I thank you for that, but Ultimately in the end I'm still quite upset youve chosen to bail out on myself, christian, your team mates and the lan as a whole in which you pushed so hard for. I really wish you could have made up your mind a bit earlier.
No, don't keep the ticket lying around, but you came to me over the whole Indiana issue and I offered to help any way I could. I believe my words were "I'll help you in any way to find a happy medium short of attending this LAN." I realize that I copped out, and it was unfair, but I was pretty open to ideas to make up for part of it.
I would expect you to be upset. I'd be upset if I were you. I just made this thread to clear things up, so if people are going to be mad at me, then at least they'll have the facts.
QUOTE:I'm still quite upset youve chosen to bail out on myself, christian, your team mates and the lan as a whole in which you pushed so hard for
That is the kicker for me. You were one of the main supporters of KY, which pissed me off. Now you're not going, and that's comical. Oh well..sometimes shit happens and there's nothing you can do about it.
Keep in mind also Alex, finding out through text messages that my vacation was almost ruined and my travel plans NEARLY ruined was quite infuriating and upsetting. I wish you would have called me or something to talk it out
I supported the LAN that'd be most promising. Hell, I'll still support KY and contribute if I have any services to do so, but I'm simply not going to attend. It's not worth the $400+ it'd cost, nor the time off work anymore.
I know, Christian. I was being texted by Loki and I was giving you the information as it came along. I didn't have all the answers at once and so calling your 50 times would have been a waste. I was giving you the bits and pieces as I was receiving them.
I kinda just told you what I was planning on doing because I knew you would want to know and like I said I thank you for providing me with that option, luckily I have found a cheaper and alternate route.
personally i could care less if u are/are not going. I'm just going to hang out with my e-pals before my life becomes consumed by college / football next year lol. i wouldn't go if i was u either, u go to a lan to win or have fun or both and since neither is an option for u...makes sense to me
And that's just it, SpecOps, if half your team dropped and then 4-5 of your very best e-friends dropped...How much would you want to go? Sure there are a few people you'd still have a chill time with, but paying $400 or more to do so?
Talk to me if you want to work something out, by the way.
Blake - because Christian was spending hundreds on a ticket, and Hatmaker had about $100 for the weekend, I was planning on covering gas by myself. Around 10 hours to drive, I think, there and back. That, food, registration, hotel, etc. I already looked into it :\
Dear KY people,

go to the next LAN, alex.
That's hilarious.
That, and the whole thing about the people I wanted to see most not attending.

Just not worth it, and I apologize.
While earlier I was thoroughly disappointed with you(and still am for the most part) I forgive you a little bit.
Yours Truly,
Brad Murdock

Where trusting the people you meet about IRL issues is retarded.
