It was just a coincidence that person B had HIV.
One might argue that person A went to beat person B up but ended up getting the worse end of it, but person A did what he set out to do and got the result that was intended.
Action: Person A beats up person B. Expected Result: Person B gets hurt. Result: Person B got hurt. It would be ironic if: Person A punched person B and broke his hand while person B was just fine.
Anything else is just coincidental.
Now had this been a play, movie, or book it would be dramatic irony.
