Guys, it works, there are plenty of people playing and it is really easy to install thanks to wickit's custom installer that does all the hard work for you. It runs with Steam too, so you don't need to remember the old way of logging in.
We played a 9v9 for a few maps yesterday and it felt so good it wasn't even funny. I remembered instantly why I didn't get any sleep for 2 years of my life!
It is really easy to install, just do the following:
1. Delete and previous 3.1 folders you may have had. 2. Download this file: http://dod.wippiespace.com/dod31_4_steam.exe 3. Point it to your C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam Apps\Your Name\Half Life\ folder. 4. Load up Steam 5. Enjoy.
That simple.
We have a forum and two private servers. We are looking into getting an official server really soon.
This isn't a mega commitment that I am asking for. Just load up the game and drop by now and then if you see people playing.
I know you all have your cyber images to groom and if you weren't riding the coattails of the latest gaming rage people might cyber thnk less of you, but you might want to drop by to play a good and fun game now and then.
BTW, what is the deal with the gaming community? Why do you people get sick of games so quickly? I never got bored of Hockey, Football, Soccer, Baseball, etc... Why do you get bored so quick and always need a complete change? I would be totally content with playing the same game always as long as it is good. (Just so I don't get the wrong responses here, that was NOT sarcasm.)

It is NOT going to be huge. Just maybe get some people dropping in to test out their skills now and again. We can get a decent sized community and start playing a bit.

Get you teams together, I am setting up a round-robin tonight. The best part about this game is the competitive play, because it is really based around skill and strategies. Best game for competition! See everyone online at around 8pm EST.
