Ok so i've recently been watching this man, for lack of a better word, on t.v just to understand what the average far right winger thinks.
what i saw was a maniac with a blackboard ranting about how spreading the wealth, social justice(really?), and universal healthcare are bad things because they will destroy capitalism and the American dream.
I'm now convinced this man should be evaluating in a phsyc ward, he is convinced that Obama trying to help people that rich white men have been ignoring for centuries is going to destroy the american dream? i'm sorry but if the american dream is 90% of the wealth in the hands of 10% of the population, then the american dream can suck a D.
not only that, i've never seen anyone take advantage of video editing so much, except maybe saddam hussein, he had semi-good points regarding what the founding father's wanted, but they simply just can't be applied to a modern world. but his quotes from everyone he calls "revolutionaries" were chopped up and taken completely out of context to his advantage, he sat there and told everyone watching not to be manipulated when he is sitting there trying to manipulate them. god is this really the way conservatives think?
really #4? you can't understand the gay point of view? it's quite simple, they want to get married and love eachother. and IMO if they want to, WHO CARES? same rules should apply to normal people as gays, i.e you can't run around butt pirating eachother in the streets the same way straight people cant do that in public.
i really don't mind gay people, they are the way they are, and making it illegal for them to get married isn't going to change that.
please though, if you have a valid point that has nothing to do with the bible , i'm all ears.
Well homosexuals CHOSE to be gay. Just like how in 1st grade when I had a crush on Casey Farrell I CHOSE to be straight. Right? Because in 1st grade I knew I could go either route...And I consciously chose to be straight...That's how it works.
Although I am against gay marriage, I am not against what they do in their private lives. What I do not commend of the homosexual is the influence they have on their children and society. I believe that John the 3 year old doesn't want two Heasher as mommies or vice the versa. It's awkward, and it may affect the adolscent's way of thinking. Preferably, even animals instinctively, mate each other base on male and female, and humans shouldn't degrade themselves to be inferior to animals. Furthermore, I'm afraid that if gay people coexist together with no legal rights against them, the population and influence of these homosexuals will affect the human growth population, in the year, say 2100. There are couple of more reasons though, and I would like to list them.
However, as for the interpretation of the Bible, it is solely opinionated, and I do not believe many things that are written in the Bible. But the interpretation of its moral values is something I do approve of.
First off, it wouldn't be awkward if homosexuals were accepted in society. It'd only be awkward because people who frown upon a group of people who were built differently aren't seen as deserving of the same worth. So...Look no further than the mirror for creating awkwardness, not at homosexuals.

Find me a single credible, science journal saying otherwise. I'd love to see it.
With that logic, divorce should be illegal because of what it does to kids. Poor people shouldn't have kids, either. Think of the children! Ohhh they might face difficulties! Stupid argument, purely speculative, and not remotely true.
2.) "Even animals instinctively, mate each other base on male and female, and humans shouldn't degrade themselves to be inferior to animals"

Wow science totally disagrees with everything you just said! Let's hear how you defend your position based off your subjective opinions rather than empirical support, though.
1. Pure speculation is 100% at it's right. I wouldn't see why people wouldn't use science as their argument. Since it's the new religion anyway. 2. Animals, I know of, not the ones in your house, do have sex with the opposite sex. You're probably watching some sort of CGI movie that made you said otherwise. 3. Population growth would be halted with too many homosexuals. 4. Yes. The world would be a better place? wouldn't it?
QUOTE:However, as for the interpretation of the Bible, it is solely opinionated, and I do not believe many things that are written in the Bible. But the interpretation of its moral values is something I do approve of.
How do you get to cherry pick what values out of the Bible are worth-while and not antiquated? This just strikes me as simply wrong and fallacious. What "interpretation of moral values" you support but yet find reprehensible.
You act as if the Bible did it first, but it didn't. It wasn't new at the time it was compiled. In fact, civilization, for thousands of years prior, had already done a good job. Interesting factoid: homosexuality had long since been established as the only form of true love.
If you're using the Bible as the measuring stick for only SOME values, then your opinion is pretty bad based on that statement.
I do not want religion dictating government policy. I especially do not want religious values dictating issues of personal privacy that have no actual bearing on the social order other than a bunch of WASPs getting antsy that things are different. Gays aren't pertinent to the protection of day-to-day order that prevents murder, fraud, or actual crime.
"Results of research to date suggest that children of lesbian and gay parents have positive relationships with peers and that their relationships with adults of both sexes are also satisfactory. The picture of lesbian mothers' children that emerges is one of general engagement in social life with peers, with fathers, with grandparents, and with mothers' adult friends-both male and female, both heterosexual and homosexual. Fears about children of lesbians and gay men being sexually abused by adults, ostracized by peers, or isolated in single-sex lesbian or gay communities have received no support from the results of existing research." - http://www.apa.org/pi/lgbc/publications/l..
THAT'S WEIRD I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU GET YOUR IDEAS FROM BECAUSE THEY AREN'T SHARED BY PROFESSIONALS WHO STUDY THESE THINGS?
QUOTE:1. Pure speculation is 100% at it's right. I wouldn't see why people wouldn't use science as their argument. Since it's the new religion anyway. 2. 1.) Pure speculation? I just posted 4-5 empirically researched sources saying that you are wrong. 2.) Most do, but some still do engage in homosexual sex. Primates, our closest relatives, are a fantastic example! 3.) Really? 1% of the population is gay. Do you think discouraging gay marriage discourages homosexuality? Like "Hey, Dave, we can't get married...So I'm going back to straight." Seriously? Stupid. 4.) How would the world be a better place with the Bible dictating law? I'm a Christian, guy, and that's just stupid. Have you read the Old Testament? There are horrible things done in there which I've already mentioned: genocide, slavery, selling your children, beating wives because they are "property," animal slaughterings purely for sacrifice, etc. Do you support these things? I sure hope you do...
Let me ask you something else, then, if you want to base our laws off the Bible. Do you support regulating the following acts which, upon breaking them, would entail a punishment:
Lying, disrespecting your parents, coveting your neighbor's belongings, adultery, etc.? Should we throw people in jail for wanting your neighbor's car?! Hmm?
QUOTE:Population growth would be halted with too many homosexuals.
Good thing, considering one of the major dangers to humans is the overpopulation of the Earth. The Earth can hardly sustain the billions we have now, it's expected it will double over the next few generations.
I never read the Bible. I read the first page, found it boring, never touched it again. The liberal media tell me it's a good book, so I thought it has some good moral values in it, since the New York Post likes to talk about it so much.
And I never read the New York Post. I base all of my comments out of my OWN experience and it rarely fails to depict how I see certain people.
Personal experiences are unbelievably inaccurate. Why? Because you're exposed to so few out of so many. Keep using that logic though. Skinheads, Nazis, and various hate groups are all doing the same.
Science just proved you wrong, and you don't even give it a second guess? That's how ignorant you are if that's the case. Children won't be harmed psychologically, other animals engage in homosexuality, the population growth (which IS a problem, by the way) won't change as allowing gay marriage doesn't encourage homosexuality, and the Bible says lots of terrible things but you don't support them. So...Where did your argument go?!
"An area of particularly strong public interest is the genetic basis of homosexuality. Evidence from twin studies does in fact support the conclusion that heritable factors play a role in male homosexuality. However, the likelihood that the identical twin of a homosexual male will also be gay is about 20% (compared with 2-4 percent of males in the general population), indicating that sexual orientation is genetically influenced but not hardwired by DNA, and that whatever genes are involved represent predispositions, not predeterminations." - Dr. Collins (Head of the Human Genome Project).
INTERESTING. So...10x higher chance of being gay if your identical twin is gay? Follow-up studies confirm this EVEN when the twins are adopted at birth by different sets of parents. Funny how that works, right?
So there's a genetic predisposition to being gay...But we're still not going to allow them full and equal rights...Remind me how that's ANY different than discriminating against people with a certain skin color or people who are depressed?
my only news source is FOX news. What those people say is OPINIONATED. They're not people who report NEWS. And their most of their OPINIONS are in fact what is GOOD for society.
Here's who I watch in this particular order: Glenn Beck. O'Reilly. and sometimes Hannity..
these people talk of society damn straight to the point.
Yeah, but they talk based on their opinions and not facts. Not only that, but even when facts go against what they say; they are too stubborn to revise their ideas/statements because they're, well, ignorant and stupid.
I should revise by saying: most SANE human beings base their opinions off of reality. Fox News goes against this and bases their reality off their beliefs.
And let's just say that their beliefs are craaaaaazyyyyyy.
Linux > Windows. but windows is more popular. ( operating system) CS1.6 > ANy other game because it's more popular. ( games ) fox watched > others ( because it's important)
Every news station has its bias nowadays. FOX is to the point of being completely unbelievable, but CNN and msnbc aren't much better. Their spin just goes the other way and is much more subtle
You're saying that, if it is popular, then it is good/the best/etc.? That's just stupid and not true. Popularity does not entail effectiveness in its respective field. You're not looking at other variables.
NASCAR is the fastest growing sport in America. Does that mean NASCAR is the greatest sport in America?
I'm not saying Fox News isn't most watched. I'm saying that just because it is most watched does NOT make it remotely true/credible/etc. It's completely opinionated as you said, and I can guarantee you that if you presented FACTS that went against their opinions, they would be too stubborn to revise their beliefs. Instead they'd revise the facts to fit their convictions, or simply ignore the facts that go against them.
QUOTE: You are just poor and dumb if you believe in wealth spreading. I work for what I have, so I'm not going to give it to a bunch of freeloaders
I'm not poor or dumb, and I believe in partial wealth spreading.
Are you white? Were you born to a middle class (or better) family? Did you receive an average (or better) education? If "yes," then these factors contributed to your success while directly holding back others from achieving the same success. You owe it to fix the system.
We don't live in an America where everything you earn is purely based on work. There are other factors you are not accounting for!
I concur with Nick. Beyond that, I'm in the HIT industry and there is no way UHC is going to work. It's a nice idea and can probably be done over time, but throwing it down a nation's throats is asking for disaster. Of course, by then we'll have a conservative president and we can blame it all on them
To sum things up for me. I am totally Conservative. Although your opionions of me may saying that "Oh god, this kid is dumb" but, i have my own views. and one thing why i'm such a conservative is because
1. because i live in new york, and i far seen too many abuses as i got older. my transition from h.s. to college expanded how people abuse the tax payers money.
2. i believe that all men, regardless of their race or sexual oreintation are entitled to civil rights. but i do not condone for it because of the influence my family had one me, and how the neighborhood italians look down upon, (brooklyn) people view homosexuals as out of the ordinary.
3. programs such as the EOP or such contradicts why we give equal rights. what happened 200 years ago was what happened. if it happened 30,000 years ago, would we still uphold such views? time doesn't matter. it's what changed does.
Let's not kid ourselves Alex. Morality is all peachy and nice, but at some point you have to cut the %#*! and stop handing people their drink with a nipple on it.
Glenn Beck

I never thought I'd say this to Till, but...I...Wow this is difficult...I'll just throw it out there; I agree.
Except I don't think it's 90%. I think it's closer to 75% last I heard :x
Glenn Beck went nuts when Obama got elected
i really don't mind gay people, they are the way they are, and making it illegal for them to get married isn't going to change that.

devils advocate:
Tax benefits go to married couples to encourage them to have kids and feed the army with soldiers.
Homosexuals can't procreate.
Homosexuals shouldn't get tax benefits.
my thoughts not D.A.:
I don't think keeping them from marriage is persecution. Jews and Blacks were persecuted. Gays? Ignored and excluded maybe.
I don't care if they get the right to marry and get the benefits. It doesn't have any sway in my day to day activities.

2. Animals, I know of, not the ones in your house, do have sex with the opposite sex. You're probably watching some sort of CGI movie that made you said otherwise.
3. Population growth would be halted with too many homosexuals.
4. Yes. The world would be a better place? wouldn't it?
How do you get to cherry pick what values out of the Bible are worth-while and not antiquated? This just strikes me as simply wrong and fallacious. What "interpretation of moral values" you support but yet find reprehensible.

1. because i live in new york, and i far seen too many abuses as i got older. my transition from h.s. to college expanded how people abuse the tax payers money.
2. i believe that all men, regardless of their race or sexual oreintation are entitled to civil rights. but i do not condone for it because of the influence my family had one me, and how the neighborhood italians look down upon, (brooklyn) people view homosexuals as out of the ordinary.
3. programs such as the EOP or such contradicts why we give equal rights. what happened 200 years ago was what happened. if it happened 30,000 years ago, would we still uphold such views? time doesn't matter. it's what changed does.
