1. Boston(genius offseason moves) 2. Cleveland(lebron is doing everything again just like 2 seasons ago, but hes got the same guys and more around him, it doesnt make sense) 3. Orlando(might be generous, depends on alot of variables) 4. Washington(i'm a wizards fan but you gotta admit, they made the mavericks look awful on opening night, without antwan jamison to boot) 5. Chicago(rose coming into his own but i don't think the supporting cast is enough to make them a real contender) 6. Miami(d-wade will carry this team into the semi's) 7. Toronto(bosh.) 8. Atlanta(deep backcourt and huge scoring potential)
West: 1. LA Lakers 2. San Antonio 3. Denver 4. Portland 5. Phoenix 6. New Orleans 7. Dallas 8. Oklahoma City
East: 1. Boston 2. Orlando 3. Washington 4. Cleveland 5. Atlanta 6. Philadelphia 7. Chicago 8. Toronto
Edit: I think if Beasley shows up this year Miami can sneak into the playoffs too. Cleveland should be really interesting to watch as the season progresses, but from what I've seen in these two games, I don't think they'll have a better record than Boston, Orlando, or Washington
1. Boston (I watched the opener against Cleveland and they looked very good. KG is such an important aspect of that team, his leadership is the best in the NBA imo. He's energetic to create momentum, makes the right decision 95% of the time and has such a focus on winning rather then personal achievements.
2. Orlando (I think Vince will help them a lot, this team knows what it takes to get to the finals and now they're experienced and will know what to expect if they make it there again.
3. Chicago ( they were very solid last year and Rose will only improve after a great series against Boston, expect him to really turn into a leader in the next few years. Ben Gordon did help them tremendously last year in the playoffs and it'll be tough for them to find a 4th quarter go to guy.)
4. Cleveland (I think Shaq is a fail for Cleveland)
5. Washington (Arenes is back and he is a very vital part of this team. If he stays healthy I believe they will have a great year!)
6. Miami (Mediocre team. Wade is amazing we'll see)
7. 76ers ( just a hunch)
8. Pistons (The team is def. rebuilding and I think they're headed in the right direction. They have Rip still putting up numbers and what happens when he goes on the bench? Oh Ben Gordon comes in, This team is going to be deep in a few years and they're going to be looking to get back to the finals.)
Man I'm stoked to watch Ball this year, I'm gunna be playing in a mens league across the street to hopefully get scouted by some NBA scouts.
Orlando isn't looking as tough this year. Not having Nelson hurts them but worse is the fact they traded so much talent for Carter. So lets see if Carter can carry them 4 to 6 weeks.

when you have 2 former or current all-stars at your guard positions(arenas, miller) and 2 allstars at your forward positions(butler, jamison) and a center averaging a double double and 2 blocks(haywood). and a REALLY young bench full of both potential,(FOYE, young, mcguire, blatche) and experience(boykins, stephenson).
we don't just have 3 really good players anymore and won't be completely screwed if one of them gets injured, we have depth at all areas of the team. if everyone stays healthy in flip saunder's offense we should get 45 wins, and i think that's a conservative estimate in this league.
1) Boston - They're champions and know how to win. Unless something happens to KG (which is a good possibility near the tail end of the season), there's the right amount of talent and will to make it to the finals again. 2) Orlando - Deepest team in the NBA, hungry to get back, 3rd best coach and is that JJ Reddick starting to blossom as an all around player? 3) Atlanta - Wow, they're talented. With Crawford coming off the bench and raining points, they will make one of the big 3 in the east take a back seat this season. 4) Cleveland - They just don't "have it" like they did last season. It doesn't look as fun for them. They really seemed to feed off of that. Also: LoLshaq. 5) Miami - Inspired defense, the heroics of Wade and young potential supertalent. 6) Chicago - Rose doesn't have the Ben Gordon safety net to fall back on and it will be interesting to see him being "The Man" for the Bulls this season. 7) Toronto - Bosh is shooting for MVP and an aging Turkoglu is still a clutch playmaker with a role similar to his in Orlando. 8) Detroit - Sh.t sandwich: tastes great. I would have loved to see Ben Gordon on a contender.
Brian's Patios and Awnings? More like Brian's Patios and Yawnings. #zerokelvin
The cavs didn't have Andy or Shaq against Washington - and were up by 17 at one point. I'm okay with underestimating the Cavs at this point, but they're built for the playoffs. No doubt about it, I'll take them in a seven game series.

Boston lost a few games too, by the way.
