I love how hockey is the only sport where referee's will sit back and watch them fight and the commentators will comment on the fight as well.

Yeah, can someone actually explain to me what the rules on fighting are in hockey. It really does seem like the refs just kinda sit there and watch it, almost like they're reffing the fight o_O

you get penalties for fighting. It's against the rules, but they're usually allowed to go on until it's clear one guy is winning, then it's broken up. It's just part of the game, fans would be pissed if they treated it the way other sports do and got rid of it completely.

It's also pretty mind blowing how many grammatical errors this idiot can fit into one sentence. You must be one of the biggest retards I've ever seen. Have fun shoveling fries into a bag the rest of your life, dumb ass. lol.

its also pretty dangerous for refs to jump in between two 200+ pound guys throwing bombs at each other on skates. so they usually wait until both players are tired, the fight is over, or they're both down

fights in the NHL happen for a few reasons; disgust, retaliation or as a means to gain an emotional edge. if the refs are close enough to the players that are involved in a scuffle they will usually skate in and break it up before fists start flying. if they are unable to break it up before it starts they are forced to wait for an opportunity to get control of the situation; one player is unable to defend himself, both fighters are gassed and holding each other or if both fighters are down on the ice. it's long been a part of the NHL and it provides careers to guys that would otherwise have no place in the game. =)

it also keeps cheap hits and sticks down
