I only played like 15 minutes before work, but I like the level layout, the AK47, and the run and gun alarm sounding events (not just holding off in a spot). I'm looking forward to the new modes, I can only imagine multiplayer will be crazy fun.
I admit, I will be buying it when I get paid Tuesday. Very impressed.
To be honest other than the improved game director and a few new common and special infected and new weapons, I wasn't all that impressed. It felt like l4d 1.5 to be honest. I admit, the new melee weapons made the game a little more enjoyable and I liked that fact that you don't get the same better weapons at some checkpoints. Other than that, it feels and plays just like left4dead to me. I think that $25 tops is what this game should cost, definitely not $50.

@ #2, that's why 95% of the people are upset. It's just a year long awaited patch that you have to pay for.
On a positive note, the charger is soo fun to play. You can knock people off of ledges when you run into a group. Suuper excited to just charge someone OFF of a building. New crescendos will be fun too.
Yeah, #2 and #4, I don't know where Valve gets off calling this a sequal.
It's not like there are all new characters, 5 new campaign (25 new maps), new game modes, new weapons, new gore, new specials, new storyline, new dialog, new items (defib, adrenaline, boomer bomb), melee weapons, new achievements. Am I forgetting anything?
I hear it's normal for dlc to be significantly larger than the original title. A company, like Valve, should pay their professionals at no cost to us and produce products for free in one of the worst business cycles in 2 generations. It surely doesn't pose any risk to the company.
This just in: People want a sequel to play and feel like the original. They just want new content and improvements over the original. Valve has done this to the letter. What more did you want? Oh, you wanted entertainment for free. That seems perfectly reasonable.
I should have received hl2 episodes 1 2 and 3 for free. They are like the original with only a few changes! It should have been dlc!
#7 you made a good point, but we're not used to this from valve. Look at tf2, they easily tripled the content since launch, for free. but that game is only popular on the pc and they need to sell something to the console people so we'll get left4deads every year
The thing is though, l4d is still only 1 year old. It received content upgrades in the form of crash course and survival mode. I beleive that l4d has received more one year into development than tf2 did one year into development. I also think that l4d is slated to receive more small campaigns like crash course. It really only needed balance (survivors are completely overpowered) and bug fixes but it doesn't matter anymore with l4d2.
l4d was more or less a trial run. It's not like they can just throw the new infected into No Mercy. The maps were designed based off of the current Special Infected setups. Basically, a new game is needed to perfect their original concept. It's too much work and effort to redo the existing product.
Not only that, but they didn't triple the content of tf2 to be "nice guys". They added content because their sales shot through the roof everytime they did. It's not that they were any less "greedy" with tf2. It's just a different business model. With the l4d franchise, they chose to go a different route, but with a similar result.
Tf2 is the exception for updates from Valve; not the norm. I don't understand how people came to "expect" tf2 level updates.
Well where else can TF2 go? There's not enough substance to make a TF3. Unless they make significant game changes - all they can do is update. With each update, comes new content for both old and new players.
L4d2 is pretty much a new game. Just like Halo. Halo 2. Halo 3. Why Do people keep buying Madden's every year?
I was very skeptical at first but Valve proved to me that it's not just L4d 1.5. However, with the changes in place, I do hope for some updates/new stuff within the year. With the storyline now official, I'm sure they can work new maps, maybe even new characters into the game. The format for original L4d was pretty much a random game without meaning. I find it very fitting that with these new people and places come new weapons.
Anywho, I'm hoping a few people I know buy it. I'll be looking forward to putting some multiplayer together.
Yeah, but there are mods that make the game much more balanced "Frustians mod" Takes away ALL healthpacks including the ones you start with in the saferoom and give only pills throughout the map. Also, no T2 weapons other then a hunting rifle. Tanks also have immunity for the first 3 seconds while you are still converting over, making it so you don't get lit before you can even move/raped because you spawned right infront of them.
It makes it so teams don't finish every map with a 180+ health bonus they look more like 80-130 which is a much better depiction of how well a team plays infected.
All valve is doing is releasing a patch and making us pay for it so they can get some more profit. It's a business, and for me the 50 bucks doesn't make me broke.
But I got my game for free since im a PRO l4d player.
Well, they are only releasing 1 new version of play in my eyes, the scavenge, and new weapons that were actually supposed to be put into l4d1 along with new maps that VALVE had stated were going to be put into later patches FOR l4d.
Thats what the whole ya know, l4d2 boycott was about. People said that the things in l4d2 were going to be in l4d1, but instead they just held off and put them into the new game that we are all buying.
I'm really not complaining though, because like I said I got l4d2 for free.
Nothing screams competitive game like no recoil or movement penalty and ai controlled hordes! Not to mention the team that goes second is at an outrageous disadvantage.
Well, medkits are removed, and valve themselves made it so all item spawns are the same, and the team that goes second is switched every other map. So really all you have are mechanic flaws.
I thought in l4d 1 the survivors was pretty stacked against the zombies as long as u stay together its easy to win but with the new zombie characters it looks more balanced, could be zombie stacked in versus
Yeah I agree biggie, but we haven't even seen some of the melee weapons. I watched a video on the chainsaw and it just doesn't even look fair at all. Plus adrenaline/defib. It will be a fun game either way and im soooper excited.

5 new maps finally.
