Oh she looks like a normal human being. No surprise she was a nobody at the time. Because she really just sounds like a sh*tty Norah Jones rip-off. Throw a magical space costume on and dance around with 50 black guys playing violins and suddenly you're a musician.
omfg listen to that note a the 6:00 mark. Damn that is HORRIBLE. haha, I just got to the end where the chick says "norah jones look out" look out for that hermaphrodite making horrible replicas of your sound.
She's SOOOOO bad. It genuinely bothers me that such talentless freaks make millions of dollars for dressing up like a giant taco and singing with auto-tune because they failed miserably at trying to make real music.
pop-culture makes me sick.
Someone needs to round her up with kanye west and all of the other horrible excuses for musicians and shoot them in the head, then reinvest their millions of dollars into the public education system so that we have less retards willing to pay money for this unoriginal sh*t.
While the space taco garbage is certainly laughable, based off of this video alone she isn't talentless to me... anyone who can play piano like that and sing at the same has talent in my eyes. Still... not my music.
I haven't listed to norah jones either, but even if she did rip her off, it still doesn't look too easy.
Keep in mind i hadn't even heard of lady gaga until you made that parachute dress thread jon.
i thought that first song was very good, not so sure about the second or the vocals in the second though. sounded a little forced.
but the first song was very nice, she can definitely sing. this is an amazing live acoustic performance, especially for a college student just starting off. and theres nothing wrong with using artists like nora jones as inspiration, especially early on.
if you are stuck in a glass house, by all means throw the rock
aether she is a classically trained pianist who turned down Juliard.........she might be a freak but she isn't talentless. She is just a weird person who is into David Bowie/Queen and mimics their stage performances coupled with crappy new age pop music that her record company probably forces her to put out. They want money and could care less about any real talent she might have had.
so lady gaga is like david bowie and queen? BOO SIR BOO!
david bowie and queen are gods. lady gaga will be forgotten about in less than 2 years when people come to see that everything new on the radio is crap.
also, playing and writing are two totally different things. I can play guitar very well, it doesn't mean I can write good music. Whether she's "classically trained" or not, her songwriting blows.
Oh and Nobuo Uematsu is amazing.. and scorch is right, any clasical pianist can be amazing at what they do with the hours and hours of practice they put in, but listen to great gig in the sky by pink floyd, or pyramid song by radiohead, or so what on miles davis' kind of blue (bill evans on the piano)...
in my opinion an instrument can have technical and emotional aspects to it... I think jazz does the best in combining these two things, but when you separate them then you either get something like the video aether posted, or you get... well i cant think of a good example of just an emotionally driven piece with no technical influence at all..
I can't believe I just wasted my time with this...
#34 what do you mean by techinical... all of the old standards like Amazing Grace or Auld Lang Syne are very emotional while remaining extremely simple to the point almost anyone can learn them by playing the memory game in their head... yet you can make versions of them like this:
Yeah apparently Bach's English Suites have no emotion.
whaaaaateverrrrrrr.
Hard to take the musical opinion of people who think some of the greatest classical music ever written is lacking in emotion seriously. Pretty much exactly why I hate people like Lady Gaga. People really appreciate terrible music over absolute brilliance. That's what happens when popular media shoves garbage down people's throats for decades. Sad.
I never said that Bach wasn't amazing, I said I didn't feel any emotion in the overly structured piece. I've heard that song how many times in my life, heard great classical masterpieces how many times in my life, but it doesn't do the same to me as any of those three songs I listed... If you think those three songs are terrible music then why am I the one being attacked?
I never said classical music as a whole has no feeling, I said that those three songs rose up more feelings and emotions in me than that video, which didn't do anything but technically impress me, which it certainly did considering how ground breaking it was.
I'm a fan of syncopation, odd sounding chords, missing a beat or two to bring the aspect of silence into a piece; those are just some of the things that really pull on more than just my brain when I'm listening to music. If that Bach piece gets your heart racing and gets your emotions flowing then more power to you, just didn't do anything close to that for me. Doesn't mean I don't greatly appreciate his music and what he did.
But honestly if you really think Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Miles Davis is garbage that popular media shoves down people's throat I don't see why I should take your opinion seriously. Yes, I do prefer their music over Bach, shoot me.
