CAL Intermediate SVI Week 2 - Lennon
oPgaming

vs

fx

This matchup brings together two upper tier CAL-IM teams. After a close win last week, oPGaming is hoping to further their reputation as a top contender this season. With the addition of Jinkz, from the other OnPoint Gaming team in CAL-IM, and RobbyF, formerly of old.sKool, that hope could become a reality. Team FX should be feeling a little disappointed after not receiving a move up to CAL-Main this past week. FX clearly proved themselves last week on Anzio against a veteran team, Railsplitters. Leroy and Willeh of FX should be able to control the apartments and the middle flag. Iorio, arguably the best sniper in CAL-IM, will be able to take care of long while the rest of his team advances through the apartments and past the well to the oppositions first flag.

Jiminy's Prediction: fx by 175

Onpoint, recently known as dumbLuck (not to be confused with the Open finalists of last season) started off this season big and proved me wrong by taking out oldsKool on anzio. Regardless of it being a close match or not, they're still going to pose a big threat to the rest of the central division contenders. This week we get to see them take on Fx, who also proved me wrong beating railsplitters by almost 400 points. The best rifle team in my opinion for the intermediate division (equIs, Jackson and haphazard), will take on benton, jinkz, and spectre. The sniper skill in my opinion goes to iorio of Fx, as well as heavies leroy and willeh who should have apartments under control for the majority of the matchup. I'm going to have to give it to Fx this week. After an impressive win over RS and a distinct lineup that has worked together for several seasons now (minus the azfire portion), I see nothing but wins in the future.

Bane’s Prediction: fx by 200
Aristocracy

vs

Elite DI

After a recent move up to CAL-IM for Team Aristocracy, they face one of the better teams in this division, Elite DI. Aristocracy could prove to be a strong team led by their heavy pair Solidryed0n and JoelZ. JMan2002 brings a lot of experience to the team which should help out their rifles at well. Elite DI will be a tough opponent for the young Aristocracy team with BlueRevolver holding the two-man flag at long while GungHoUnit pushes hard. Watch for Elite DI to command the well two-man flag with their recent pickup Fury, but look for Aristocracy to maintain control in apartments with Solidryedon taking care of business. Don't expect either team to control the whole map, but look for Elite DI's experience to prevail.

Jiminy's Prediction: Elite DI by 100

Elite DI gave the brazillians a beating last week and are strongly working on that rebound from the Main to Intermediate move. Gunghounit has been getting his team into shape as Ive seen them, as well as had a chance to play against them in a scrim, and I was impressed. They all poss this thing called "talent". Whether you agree with me or not, they take on aristocracy this week. Not a big name in the Intermediate division, or any idea as to how they were moved up, I took some time to check this team out. Previously known as Ctrl Gaming, with new pickups jman2002 and solidrydeon, they are looking to make a decent impact this season. I really don't know how I feel about Gunghounit rifling, but if Elite DI can continue to do what they are doing, this match should be close, but more towards their favor.

Bane’s Prediction: Elite DI by 90
Railsplitters

vs

Da NiNjA

Despite their grueling loss last week on Anzio against Team FX, Railsplitters has the potential to rebound and become a very strong CAL-IM team. Da Ninja also has great potential, but they just are not an active enough team to perform as well as many of the top contenders in CAL-IM. If both teams get their acts together this could be the match to watch this week; if not, this match may not even be played. Da Ninja recently acquired a very talented rifle in Fluxxuationz, however, he will not be able to win this match individually. The combined talents of SkiNnTo and b will be enough to secure the match in Railsplitters' favor.

Jiminy's Prediction: Railsplitters by 125

Railsplitters took a deep blow last week to Fx and proved me absolutely wrong (I BELIEVED IN YOU), but this week will be an absolute turn a round. I know Da NiNjA was a team not to be reckoned with in the past, but this is the present, and so far they've proved to be nothing but the Highball of Intermediate. Last week they forfeited to deadboLT, but a recent pickup of fluxxuationz` could bring some life back into the team. Railsplitters should have no trouble here.

Bane’s Prediction: Railsplitters by 150

oldsKool

vs

StormTroopers

Heading in to this match, oldsKool would seem like the obvious favorite. After a loss last week to oPgaming, oldsKool is going through some difficult roster changes. If oldsKool is able to find solid ground, pick up some decent heavies and stabilize their roster, there is no doubt that they will take this match. Stormtroopers are entering this week off of an unforgiving loss to Team Foreplay and they don't seem to have too much room for improvement. Look for the flag at long to change sides quite often as Spartan of osK and Brain of ST face off in a classic sniper duel. The rest of the map should be controlled by oldsKool under the leadership of one of the best rifle duos in CAL-IM, ChicagoLegend and DiscoStu. If Stormtroopers are able to take advantage of oldsKool's lack of teamwork due to their roster issues, the tables could turn, but I don't see this CPL-bound oldsKool team breaking down any time soon.

Jiminy's Prediction: oldsKool by 250

oldsKool battled it out last week to a close but disappointing loss to one of the onpoints. Which one? I don't know, but it was close. Stormtroopers on the other hand suffered at the hands of 4play by almost 400 points. The way I see it is, oldsKools roster could take out 4play, which in return could deal twice as much damage to stormtroopers on any given basis. I vote osK for the rebound this week, with chicagolegend and disco stu dropping high numbers.

Bane’s Prediction: oldsKool by 300
Antivirus

vs

-_<#TrypantsOff>

Both of these teams are coming off of rough losses last week on Anzio. Antivirus suffered at the hands of Ninjas With Puppies who have since been moved back up to CAL-Main. Don't let that large point deficit fool you because this Antivirus team has the potential to be an upper tier CAL-IM team. TrypantsOff experienced some internet issues in their match against iCON last week, and look to have a stabilized starting six for this upcoming match led by Pro.dod. Even if TrypantsOff can keep their six this week I don't believe it will make much of a difference as they will continue learning the hard way what it is like to play in higher divisions of CAL. With Fenom sniping long; Diso and Wikid governing apartments, Antivirus will easily come away with the win.

Jiminy's Prediction: Antivirus by 200

Unfortunately for #Trypantsoff, last week they had to play one of DoD's most questionally unlegit teams. This weeks looking pretty shallow as well. Antivirus who are also coming off a big loss against the "I thought they were dying" team known as NwP are looking to go big this week with a lineup that will unfortunately shut down TPO for the second week in a row. With the return of the legend Grant "Wikid" Garner this week on heavies with Diso, as well as a solid rifle team of Traize and Demon, I predict constant map control throughout the entire match. It's another unfortunate battle of skill vs. the unknown.

Bane’s Prediction: Antivirus by 300
iCON

vs

something with an A obviously

ICON is coming off of a blowout win last week on Anzio, and is now looking to make their name known within CAL-IM by starting off 2-0. They will have their hands full with Something with an A obviously, who has recently reformed to participate in CAL once again. Not a lot of people know about this iCON team so they could easily suprise everyone this season starting with a win this week. Something with an A is another team that should be on top of CAL-IM regardless of their rough history together. In this match look for Something with an A to dominate the well and apartments, while long remains an even battle for the most part. Coming off of his CAL suspension, Headshot is looking to prove himself, and I strongly believe he will lead his team to victory this week.

Jiminy's Prediction: something with an A obviously by 200

iCON destroyed Trypantsoff in typical iCON fashion last week. Although some question the ultimate legitness of this team, they have been playing together for quite a while now and know how to take advantage of a teams weaknesses fast and effectively. Something with an A ovbviously are another new team Ive both never heard of before and never seen scrimming. The practice factor plays an important part in the outcome of this match. Unless the pacific division schedules are spread out with the central division for the coming weeks, iCON is going to stay unbeatable and on top. That's just my theory.

Bane’s Prediction: something with an A obviously by 700

P4nz3R

vs

homies

This match up seems to come straight from open. On one side there is a role playing pub clan P4nz3R, who was blown out last week by the recent main move up irawr. On the other you have team who is fresh of a smaller lost to Elite DI than P4nzeR's. On a map like the recently introduced Lennon, anything can happen. Sadly this is not the case here, the hardcore patience of the Brazilians should demoralize P4nz3R even more. Being impossible to hit and horrible strategy will have homies running away with this one.

Basic's Prediction: homies by 300

HIGH PING VS HIGH PING. This battle of two South American teams will give the locals something to talk about around town. Who ever wins this will have the bragging rights along with the pride of the locals. P4nzeR got destroy last week in there first cal IM match where as homies lost by a mere 150 to cal M move down Elite DI.

platypus’s Prediction: homies by 150
The Phantom Team

vs

Llamas on Drugs

With this match we see a South American team TPT out to make a name for themselves this season and represent the South American gaming. Coming off a big win vs. an old, experienced G4N team last week, they that can’t feel anything but pumped for this upcoming match. Recent cal O move up Llama on Drugs (great pub server btw) will defiantly have there hands filled with their first cal IM match as the TPT team is quite active with there scrims. Also the both teams have to deal with the ping indifference, but TPT has learned to play with it. This will cause even more problems for LoD.

Basic's Prediction: The Phantom Team by 200

Another exciting match up…The Phantom Team (South of the border.) versus Llamas on Drugs (A notorious pub team.). The Phantom Team having no recognizable players pulled an upset last week over a veteran Good4Nothing team. Then there is [LoD]. Where to begin? Llamas on Drugs is famous for their 24/7 kalt server (vac disabled mind you). This team is primarily made up of working people, they are the breadbasket of America. If the LoD squad can get some practice in they might have a chance from their sheer experience. Despite, I have TPT going for the gold on this one.

Platypus’s Prediction: The Phantom Team by 115
L337 Crew

vs

Good 4 Nothing

After being upset last week by an upcoming South American team, Good 4 Nothing looks to regain its bearings and show why they were in main last season. L337 Crew’s first match in IM doesn’t seem pretty. With a roster that seems as unrecognizable as kindergarten macaroni picture, there really isn’t hope for this team. Wood shall have middle on lockdown, while stew and jojothehobo will keep an eye on back alley. Watch for Good 4 Nothing to completely wreck this team and show no mercy.

Basic's Prediction: Good 4 Nothing by 300

Good 4 Nothing might actually get a break this week vs. a very new inexperienced L337 Crew team. Good 4 Nothing has nothing good go there way since the end of last season with them nearly dieing and this season losing XCommunistX and being put in IM. Also last week with a big loss to the South American beast TPT, G4N should take this match with the experience and skill they have. Under the leadership of sTeW and his ability to hold together what they got left; sTeW, bullet, chi^nate and PTk should have no problem pulling a win for G4N. L337 Crew is a brand new team with only there leader, Trooper, having any past league experience.

Platypus’s Prediction: Good 4 Nothing by 250

The Untouchables

vs

4Play

This for me is MOTW. You have the Open champs from last season (4play formerly flashpoint) vs a veteran roster from The Untouchables. Despite TU’s recent pickup nugZ being suspended, TU will come on strong with surreal blazing up the path. Confidence pours out on both sides here, watch for an even match up in almost every class. If TU gets together and gets a lot of practice in I see them winning this one by a slim margin. 4Play on the other hand, has had great chemistry and has been an outstanding team so far I have them winning.

Basic's Prediction: 4Play by 60

Here we have one of the 2 better teams in CAL IM facing off on a heavy controlled maybe such as Lennon. We have 4play coming back after a season off with the return of many old Flashpoint players and the experience they have, we should see a very skilled and ready 4play team. With such additions as Jiminy the beasty sniper, defiance on heavy and _deus on rifle there roster looks better then ever especially with the amazing burntwaffles. The Untouchables are also a team consisting of very experienced players with the skill to take this match. We will see Justin and dark- on heavy making for a great battle in apartments vs Defiance and Burnt of 4play, but also the sniping battle at long with 2 well known snipers surreal vs. Jiminy. Overall I feel 4play has the teamwork and activeness to gain a win over The Untouchables.

Platypus’s Prediction: 4Play by 100
onpointgaming

vs

So Def

onpointgaming was originally supposed to play Victory Party, but they have requested to be moved back to open. The match is now against So Def. Sorry but we don't have anything for onpointgaming vs So Def.

real lyfe

vs

deadboLT

Here is our story of David vs Goliath…or maybe it’s the tooth fairy vs Chuck Norris. Deadbolt will make quick work of this cal-o move up. On a map like lennon, Aristo and company will drop bombs real big. Unlike basketball there are no George Masons of DoD and deadboLT will crush real lyfe without breaking a sweat. Look for some thrilling Thursday theatrics from aristo and make sure you have your calculator at the end of the 2nd half.

Basic's Prediction: deadboLT by 200

In this match up of a reformed team deadbolt coming back and doing very well with the new lineup. With the great pick ups of miller[dd] and aristo the team is looking even better. Scrimming every night, unlike many other reformed teams, they are actually trying to accomplish something in IM this season. With Real Lyfe, we see a team who has been together for the past 3 seasons starting out as Synergy two Seasons ago. The team has great team work and has been active for the past three seasons. With this all said, look for aristo and jordAn of deadbolt to easily take 2bit and flail in apartments and thus control well and long. Well will be destroy by the great miller rifling for deadbolt. The only true battle we will see here is at long with 2 great snipers (Ironcross vs. Akiro) going head to head. Thou they may seem like a blow out look for the teamwork of Real Lyfe to keep the match close to the end.

Platypus’s Prediction: deadboLT by 100
Pantheon

vs

Handicapped

This one could go either way. A seasoned pub-based team Pantheon vs a fairly young team Handicapped. Handicapped has strong, team based strats that look exciting to watch. Panz will be sniping long against a under skilled pub sniper. The real story here is raider and his heavy team. Look for raider to drop huge bombs in the alleys and hold Pantheon to their first flag and a loss. HDC’s roster is full of potential and if they build some confidence in the first half they will run away with this one. Pantheon, could throw a curveball with their strats and unconventional camping spots. These ploys against Handicapped could potentially demoralize this young team and have a snowball effect. If this happens Pantheon could bring the upset.

Basic's Prediction: Handicapped by 80

Handicap coming off a lose to team onpointgaming (#1,2,3 or 4 who knows) last week will have an easier time this week facing off against a new and inexperience Pantheon team. Handicap lead by there sniper panz will be able to control apartments with there experience and skill seen in raider and j^ms. Also at well we should see dilliard and hectiK have no problem with whoever Pantheon sends there. Overall the match will be taken by the more experienced and skilled team of Handicap.

Platypus’s Prediction: Handicapped by 150
