CAL main week two review
match results
Synergy (0-1) < Checkmate (1-0)
Final: 8 - 268
Checkmate Stealth: We pretty much had them at one flag the entire game. However that last flag was being clutched by a few of their players a lot, it took a few people rushing to get close to it. Our apartments team was in control almost the entire match, and middle was just taken by our team a lot. The score reflects the match flow somewhat, seeing as they only had middle for a small amount, therefor not too many points. It also shows, on our part, that capping out wasn't too often, it was mostly just holding mid and capping 3 or 4 times total. As for players and streaks, everyone on our team was pretty solid, and Justin from Synergy was helping his team out when it came to holding the flag. Kaboom helped out long a lot, which isn't saying much because phox is just bad (lol <3). Overall it was a really fun match and a good game for everyone.
Nihilist (0-1) > SystemElite (0-1)
Final: 124 - 82
Nihilist Ellsworth: During the first half we played Allies, we had kept the middle for most of the 20 minutes. There were a couple of times that System Elite had capped the middle, but soon regained control and kept them on the defensive side. As flame worked long and ScreaM and I worked apartments. We had capped thier second flag on and off while zihark(hegs), teamownerrr, and maple sirop(cigar) worked 4-way and rail-car to cap the first flag. However we couldnt seem to work out a full cap leaving the final round score 59 - 12 us. For the first 5 minutes on the second half, it was back and forth capping each others second flags and breaking middle. We had almost capped out on them around the 6 minute mark but Laura from SystemElite grabbed their second just in time. An all around close half. With 5 minutes left to go we gain control and caped out. Only to get caped out on as the match closed up.
Zeroethics (1-0) < Flat-out (0-0)
Final: 120 - 133
Flatout Netrolyxen: We came into the match predicted to lose, but with Zeroethic's starting heavy, tuggeR suspended, it gave us a greater chance to win. We started on Allies first. We sent xile long, netrolyxeN railcar, nugz ticket, joeLz and JustiN apartments and wizrdspike sniping. For the most part xile held down long well against d3x, and wizrdspke held his own against their back-up sniper Yozzz. NetrolyxeN pitched his tent at railcar and when passed through, he held off their first flag spawn for quite some time. We started well and got a cap out with Netro ninja`d at their first for about five minutes. Apartments was mainly ours this half. And we held mid for most of the half. We came on top of this half by 50-60 points. Second half things got gritty. JustiN ended up going apts alone. The rifle team went middle, joeLz picked up an unter/stoss and took long and Netro again went railcar. Apartments was weak for us this half and they ended up capping out twice. Once wingman was waiting at our first for 10+ minutes, claimed d3x, and the other Crazy was camped out there. We were down by a cap and we had about 4 minutes left. Off break, netro rushed railcar and took out their mid-team. Joelz pushed through long and was ready to cap their first. Xile and netro held the second flag. Wiz stayed with JustiN to cap middle, while nugz pushed stairs. We capped out in less than a minute and the scores were neck and neck. We capped mid for the next couple minutes but were pushed back to the first flag with about a minute left. Everyone died except for Netro with twenty four seconds left. Crazy was running through the ninja house to get the final cap but netro prefired the doors and shot him in the head. Time ran out and flat out came out with the win, on top by a little over 10 points.
Nogo Gaming (1-0) < Handicap (1-0)
Final: 96 - 112
HDC Panz: Last night's match was not one of our strongest matches ever. Mnx, obviously one of our best players, was unable to make it and the match started out very shabby for us. It remained so until we finally broke down with a minute or so remaining in the first round and NoGo capped out on us. Going into the 2nd half, Axis, and about 50 points down, we were not looking too well. NoGo was playing a good strong game and we were far from it. I'm not really sure what happened, but 2nd half we just seemed to click as a team. There were no outstanding scores Axis half by any individual players really. We all played a hard offensive game 2nd half because we needed to cap out more than once to come back. Late in the 2nd half, we had a couple of clutch mid breaks and stopped a few cap-outs by NoGo and followed up with a hard push in the last 5 minutes to cap out twice and get our comeback win. It was a fun a good game from both sides. NoGo played very well throughout the entire match, we just luckily came out on top.
Laudable (0-1) > Army Gaming (0-1)
Final: 128 - 113
Laudable Arn: The match was pretty fun in my opinion. But all in all, our team wasn't too organized with capping and such. We had only scrimmed as a team 3 times at most. We were up a cap in first half, and then in second half ARMY held mid almost the entire round which made the match really close. Some key players from both teams would have to be Lerfooled from LAUDABLE and Lampro from ARMY. All in all, we had to clutch a lot and bageLchips had the cutest raging voice ever.
brave little toasters (1-0) < Quickstrafe (1-0)
Final: 61 - 188
Quickstrafe Buchan: So as you know, we (quickstrafe) played Brave Little Toasters last night. We expected them to be much better than they were, for we (me and vertex) had the apartments almost the whole game. Roger seemed to hold down railcar for most of the game and we had great teamwork, such as rotations and mid breaks. We capped out twice first half, and had a confident lead. Although we lost the 2nd half by 20 points to a capout by BLT, we still handled the middle most of the game as well as apartments. Also, vertex's ace on allies helped us regain the middle and their 2nd, which we held for a small bit of the game. Demetrius' aka Jaded's excellent rifling in ticket and crossroads helped greatly. gg BLT #quickstrafe
h8 (0-1) < Super Clan (0-1)
Final: 44 - 261
Super Milkshake: I think the score accurately describes the match. We have had a lot of trouble on the axis side of the map in the past, but David “rotcoD” Tran developed a good strategy that worked well against anyone we played. It even got us one cap on that side. Other then that one cap we had, the first half was completely equal. When we got to the allies side although, we dominated from start to finish. The h8 gaming team has a lot of skill (obviously since they are in CAL-main), but their either lack of experience or lack of teamwork really showed. I wouldn’t say any player really stuck out a whole lot. We had a very team balanced game. The only mention I have is for Reid “rn”, who played an exceptional game in apartments and had several breaking kills to hold middle.
OldSkool (1-0) > Enervate (1-0)
Final: 173 - 72
Osk Chicagolegend: The pace was generally slow. The first few mins it was pretty even. None of our players really had an amazing streak or anything, but our team work started to take over. ENE played very streaky, but had no solid teamwork. We really focused on filling in the gaps whenever one of our players went down, and really tried to keep everyone informed of where we were, and where the other team was. With our new pick up of emmons we were able to control middle alot easier and faster. All this led to a snowball effect and besides an occasional comeback from ene we were able to carefully control the map.
