As a result of considerable community support, GotFrag will be presenting an East vs. West Allstar game much like that of Counter-Strike. The idea surfaced a couple of weeks ago after the X3O LAN sparked a few discussions about where the best competition in Day of Defeat resided. Since then, the GotFrag staff worked towards establishing a fair list of capable nominees for the match, and tonight we'll be opening our nominations to a community vote.

In total, there were 36 players nominated. The format will allow for choices between 9 rifles, 6 heavies, and 3 snipers per coast. From those choices, each person must select 3 rifles, 2 heavies, and 1 sniper per coast. Each vote has been limited to those numbers, so voting for any more or any less will not submit your vote to the total count. The poll has also been configured so that you can only vote once per IP address.

Each of these players was nominated by the GotFrag staff based on current activity, past accomplishments, and, of course, talent. We acknowledge that there are dozens and dozens of capable players, each of whom deserves a nomination in their own right, but in the end we were forced to select the 18 most proven players per coast. As such, there will be a handful of top players left out of the game. We cannot please everyone, but we tried to please as many as possible.

The format of the game will be a best-of-three series using the maps Harrington, Anzio, and Railroad2 in that order. The server and HLTV will be located in Dallas, Texas and have been generously sponsored by Aim2Game High Performance Game Servers. Your votes will determine who plays. The three rifles, two heavies, and one sniper per coast who receive the most total votes will have the opportunity to play in the match. Should any of them not be able to ultimately play, their replacements will be the next highest voted player available. And, finally, the matches are scheduled to begin at 3:00 CST on September 2nd! That's a Saturday, by the way.
