Matt Rogers takes a look at the first week of the Omega division, with a guest prediction from Andrew Smart.
CAL Omega week 1 - railroad2
vs.
Well, according to aCtions CAL page they’ve gotten
3th # CAL-MAIN 2003
3th # CAL-OPEN 2006
I’m not really sure what 3th means but that sounds pretty vicious. Considering I have no idea who anyone on their roster is I’m going to completely base their playing performance off of the fact that they somehow managed to place 3th twice.
BnG on the other hand has an all-star roster, (InSaNeZ, Stevie, warchyld, and que) as can be expected. This team is looking to put up big numbers this season and I see them getting off to a great start against a less than impressive aCtion team. I can only hope that after the completion of this season we can bring main back so BnG can feel at home again. =)
Prediction: BnG > aCtion (355-50)
vs.
This match has the potential to be one of the more interesting matches this week. It really all depends on whether or not Check Six’s “all-star lineup” decides to re-instate the fact that this is an online match. Habib will be snaked around the map in random places looking to ninja cap, and Loki will put up big numbers wherever he goes. E-machine and Caliban will more than likely sit in spawn and shoot everyone through the walls and put up a combined 43-0. On the other side of the fence, FLATout will have wiz! Sniping for them who is nastyville on RR2. Plus you have the online power of nugz` to back him up. If bismal plays he should do pretty good as well. I think Check Six’ “skill” will be a bit much for FLATout to handle, but they should put up a good fight.
Prediction: Check Six > FLATout (280-200)

What more can you say than Alex Kirk has done it again. With players like Kellen, Joob, Shotgun Derek, Polak, and Jess Lewellyn, he’s managed to put together a team that might carry him to a championship. As long as all the egos on this team can fit on one map and they can get some team chemistry down this team has potential to be a contender in the late stages of the season and go far in playoffs. As far as *sparkles* is concerned we all know that Scott Fleener and Flax have the strongest backs in all of Day of Defeat, but I don’t know if they’re going to have enough to carry their team to a victory this week. I would expect Bane and Wintehs to also do well for their team, but I see gameSLAVES coming out on top in this one.
Prediction: gameSLAVES > *sparkles* (300-150)

Both of these teams have been playing together for quite some time while their rosters might be a bit different. We have hsb, another one of DoD’s finest online powerhouses, and then we have TAP who can do it Online and On-lan. Kaus and Buchan will throw up some impressive numbers for their team and I’m sure that jingpurr` (STEAM_0:0:1 416751 0 08:01 ßWTF) will probably be amazing. Just look at that steam id. Now onto TAP, we have Nick Patten, Mission <3, scangus, ham, effect, and Korean knife. I’m no scholar, but that is a winning roster right there, end of story.div>
Prediction: TAP > hsb (275-140)

Everyone comes into the season hoping to have a good start, unfortunately for NoGo they got scheduled against L8L8L8 completely dashing any chance of a 1-0 record. NoGo has probably the best roster its seen in a long time, if not ever sporting the likes of cinnastix, sik, trikstuf, khoi, sneaky, and blue. However, I don’t think it’s going to be enough going against the seasoned and stacked roster of L8L8L8. If I had to guess I would say their starting six will consist of, well I don’t know. Throw any six of their players in the game and they will probably win. Joey1g, surge, jGale, bleargh, stevehisey, cypher? I’ll be amazed if any team beats L8L8L8 this season, apart from a FF win maybe.
Prediction: L8L8L8 > NoGo (385-100)

Laudable according to most is one of the hardest trying teams left in Day of Defeat. sKillGamer’z likes to spell Gamers with a z instead of an s and are definitely from the continent of South America as anyone here will be quick to remind you. SKgz have been playing together as a team since I can remember and they’re the most skilled players I have ever seen with a 220 ping. Whether this actually helps or hurts them I’m not sure. They will as always make some amazing (interp) shots and I think they will be able to hold this close. Lampro, kurczz, KJi, will throw up big numbers. Laudable has a strong roster this season, and has played together probably more than any other team. Specops, larry walper, russ, arn, tony Compton, and m!stadobalina. This has should be fairly close but I see Laudable coming out on top with some clutch mid work from arn and walper.
Prediction: Laudable > SkillGamer’z (240-220)

It still puzzles me as to why Glass joined Super. Did they buy you a video card or something like that..? Anywho.. I like LP and would like to say they will take this, but I’m going to have to say this is my upset of the week. LP has more skill and more experience in the game, but Supers players possess a different kind of skill, one that works better over the internets. Jinkz, blkop, illusion, fallen, snuggz, and hitman47. I can’t help but laugh. LP offers up some old faces, Beas, Sacred, Ghandi, they also have tr4gik and HlaH. I haven’t seen LP practice an obscene amount and we all know super lives and dies for this game. I’m going to say super by a couple points because they’re going to gay up mid.
Prediction: Super > LP (242-240)

Bewton is a scumbag. and Bad at pubs. img is pretty cute but overall his cuteness can't make up for bewtons badness and what team bewton is on is completely irrelevant to the functionality of my prediction. HI MOGERS!
jsmart's Prediction: 3h > LcM (123-109)
vs.
Youngguns seems to have a pretty healthy roster (online). Iorio, Jackson, equis, togglez, mexy, willeh. Controlling middle is the key to this map and Iorio should be able to handle it fairly well. On the other side of the table we have one of my favorite teams playing right now, uKz. Sporting and new and improved roster with Eckman, MoneyB, Prostar, ProFiction, shiftyp, and bewton. Money should be able to handle iorio with ease, and if he can’t bewton will be right there to nade him from anywhere on the map. With prostar in apartments the YoungGuns will have a hard time getting anywhere on the map. Jackson and Willeh should hold their own, but all in all I don’t see uKz having much trouble with this match and should dominate both halves.
